After leaving Abertillery we headed north with no real plan, just exploring along the way.
We decided to stop at Claerwen Dam to stretch the legs. It was hot, breezing and surprisingly very quiet. We more of less had the place to ourselves which was stunning.
The Claerwen Reservoir is a massive, remote body of water in the Elan Valley of Powys, Mid-Wales. Built between 1946 and 1952, the dam stands 56m high, is 355m long.
