The end of Summer
It’s been quite a Summer, it’s not been stiflingly hot along the Northumberland Coast, pretty much perfect. We’ve had some lovely feedback in our Visitors Book, here are just a few examples from our happy Guests. It does make all our efforts feel worthwhile ☺️

Rock-pooling fun
A lovely morning down on Newton Beach with our grandson looking for crabs and other sea creatures. He had a session with the delightful Ranger Jane beach school last week, he and his Dad absolutely loved it, a great family activity.. 🐟🦀🦞🦐😊

2026 Which Survey voted Bamburgh the top UK seaside destination again so that’s 6 years in a row!
We completely get it of course, we love it and our Guests do to..

A great English Heritage property, stunning gardens and walks through the Quarry and woodland, a perfect stop off diversion for changeover day..

Chocolate Box Cragside
Is there a better place to enjoy the annual Show than , we doubt it! Cragside is a gem at any time of year and it’s absolutely magnificent right now.

Bamburgh Poppies
We get 2 waves of Poppies in the Dunes in front of Waterford. This is the first and is an Oriental Poppy that almost certainly spread into the Dunes from neighbouring gardens, when it appears we always feel that Summer has arrived 😎

Bank Holiday Beach Walk
A favourite walk for us is from the house along the beach to Seahouses and back. You can get the bus back if you don’t feel energetic.
It’s a great one at low tide and this morning the sun was shining and this view back to the Castle over the Dunes is to die for!

Lights out Bamburgh
The supply into the Village isn’t very reliable and that’s when our big battery comes into it’s own, whilst Bamburgh was in darkness last night until 2:30am, it was still all systems go in Waterford. It was part of a big investment we made a year ago, adding new Solar Panels and EV Charger. In that time we’ve generated 4.5 MW, 30% of our usage and equivalent to reducing emissions by over 2 Tonnes of CO2. It’s nice to add to our Eco credentials but the biggest benefit is uninterrupted power for our Guests.

Bamburgh Rays
This is a favourite route dropping into Bamburgh but with the added bonus of a great showing of crepuscular rays and a little early morning mist hanging over the Village.

Alnwick Castle
Whilst we are only 400m from must visit Bamburgh Castle, you’re spoilt for choice in Northumberland with 70 Castles across the County to reminded you that this was heavily fought over land. Alnwick is the other great iconic Castle of the County, seat of the Duke of Northumberland and extensively used in the Harry Potter films. There are themed activities there during the summer, or just visit it for its own magnificent sake, you can also get combined tickets to take in the Alnwick Garden too (dogs are now allowed on Thursdays & Sundays but not in the Castle).
