So far......... so brilliant, on board the lovely Enchanted Princess cruise ship. Journey got off to a great start with plenty of empty seats on our flight from Birmingham. Then the dreaded EES check at Rome airport took less than 10 minutes, mug shots and fingerprints done.

In Rome, 2 nights at a 3 star hotel only a 5 minute walk from Rome Termini, meant we were able to enjoy the city at our leisure, including the Hop on Hop off bus of course. Day 3 and a very reasonably priced 50 minute train journey from Rome Termini, and we were on board the ship. Day 2 was a full sea day, plenty to do on board, including a behind the scenes tour.

Day 3 and it was the gorgeous Corfu, very sunny and very warm. Shame the bar owners were on strike, but not a problem. Superb dinner in the evening in their specialty Italian restaurant.

Day 4, Dubrovnik. Been here a few times, so apart from a brief walk ashore, a day around the pool enjoying the 28 degree temperature. Time to see what the evening brings, and it's Kotor in Montenegro tomorrow.

I have been asked twice now if there is a possibility of cruise lines increasing the cost of existing bookings if fuel prices continue to rise. The simple answer to this question is yes, but fuel prices will have to rise significantly further for this to happen.

Using P&O as an example, see below for their Terms & Conditions relating to this:

PRICES AND EXTRAS (35-37)

36. P&O Cruises reserves the right to vary prices up or down at any time up to 20 days before departure to allow for variations in the price of your Package due to changes in transportation costs such as fuel and other power sources, scheduled air fares and other airline cost changes which are part of the contract between the airline (and their agents) and P&O Cruises, government action such as changes in VAT or any other government imposed changes and currency changes in relation to an exchange rate variation, the level of taxes or fees on the Travel Services included in the Package imposed by third parties not directly involved in the performance of the Package, including tourist taxes, landing taxes or embarkation or disembarkation fees at ports and airports. If this means the Guest has to pay an increase of more than 8 per cent of the price of the Package, the Guest may cancel the Contract and receive a full refund of all monies paid, except for any amendment charges or insurance premiums.

P&O Cruise Line are extending their balance due date by 30 days, to 120 days on all new bookings, for sailings from 1st December 2026. See below for their communication:

"From tomorrow, 10 March, our balance due date will change to 120 days before departure on new bookings for all cruises sailing from 1 December 2026. Existing bookings aren’t affected.
Bookings made from 10 March 2026 for departures up to and including 30 November 2026 will remain on the balance due 90 days before departure terms."
