When the hills are a bit damp it’s so handy to be able head out to the Anglesey coast - where the conditions can often be so much better.

Here are some pictures from some great days climbing at Gogarth recently, and I can confirm that it is still the best crag in the world …

2/ Elissa climbing on the Upper Tier
3/ Wesal on the guano pitch of Lighthouse Arête

5/ Climbers on Freebird, Castell Helen
6/ Other coastal activities are also fun

Marvellous week in Arolla working on the Diploma in Mountain Medicine final Alpine module

The weather and conditions were spot on and benefitted from a shift in dates to June from the usual September week - in response to the changing climate and lack of snow on the glaciers by the end of summer . This seemed especially prudent as temperatures once again soared in the Alps 😳

It was a fun course with a keen and able bunch of enthusiastic students from all areas of the medical professions - all expertly coordinated by the clinical team at UCLAN and our very own guide team headed up by .mcmahon.14

The lure of Scotland in May … clear skies, pre midges ( …maybe 🤔) and the wonderful expansiveness..

Beautiful trip to the north for classic rock and a catch up with friends and wild places . Wonderful and restorative 😍

It’s definitely the season for those pre-summer Alpine trip preparation courses.

Great fun working with .mcmahon.14 on the Mont Blanc training weekends , and then a bespoke Matterhorn training course for Will and Ed.

All in all a lot of scrambling up, down, around and across Welsh mountains and fabulous to have wall to wall sunshine and super dry rock all through it …what a great couple of weeks it’s been 😍

Alpine training in bluebird Alpine weather for this week’s Jonathan Conville Memorial Trust (JCMT) courses in Eryri.

Really fun being out in the mountains with a bunch of fun and enthusiastic young climbers…and in perfect conditions too 🙂

These subsidised training courses are aimed at young climbers and mountaineers, who want to learn and refine skills, in preparation for future adventures in the Alpine or other big mountain ranges. The courses have been running for over 40 years and have helped literally thousands of young people get started in Alpine climbing .

It’s a wrap! 2025 season end in the wonderful Lyngen Alps , with loads of snow and winter conditions looking to continue well into May…

Spectacular mountains and fjords merging into this semi alpine paradise. It was so good to be back here after missing out a couple of years …it really is my favourite Norway ski destination 😍😍

Looking forward to getting back next season , and thanks to all those who joined trips this year- it’s been a blast 😃

Adventure splitboarding in Iceland . After the leanest winter in decades things had to get inventive with all types of snow on the menu, from concrete to smooth corn (not forgetting actual grass and heather) punctuated by several river crossings and crampon bootpacks to add to the fun .

The mountains in Iceland are completely stunning and unique and we had a ball of a week travelling in this incredible landscape of ‘Minecraft’ pyramids and deep fjord valleys .

Icelandic hospitality and character welcomed and entertained us in equal measure, and coming home, a warmness for this wonderful country sticks in the heart.

Fun company with a lot of laughs, enthusiasm and collaborative chef-ing skills …although probably accompanied by a little too much Kraken at times if I’m honest 🤪

A lovely week of dry and sunny weather to be back home in Wales, prior to gearing up for the last ski trips of the season up in the North!

Getting the mojo back for rock climbing after the winter is always a challenge, but some repeats of old familiar classics help to get the confidence up before the summer rock guiding season begins🤞🤞
