Hi Sunny Bangor folk. Itโs been a while since publishing here due to the page lacking any real positive purpose tbh (so we kind of abandoned it). But now we (hopefully) have a potential purpose and future ahead for the page with our new โSunny Bangorโ shop local online marketplace. It's a bit like Amazon only it is exclusively for Bangor businesses and traders.
We have more or less created a simple online marketplace for any small business/wannabe trader in Bangor to set up and manage their own shops online. It will be free to join for anyone in Bangor (with a friendly commission on sales) with a focus on local arts, crafts, producers, homemades, creatives, unique products, andโฆ just anything really (within reason). โShop Bangorโ.
We are just testing the idea/market right now (weโre winging it really)โฆ but the marketplace is live along with a smartphone app so stores can easily manage their shops remotely. To get an idea, I have added some of our own fictional (for now) products as an example to show people how the marketplace will work. You can also test the payment system etc. by buying โnothingโ in-store, and setting up a shop is no trickier than setting up a social media profile. Like here: https://sunnybangor.com/shop/fanfans-kitchen/
As alwaysโฆ this is a side project for us, and I am managing it remotely (from Thailand atm). But the marketplacBangor-relatede is pretty much good to go. I hope to trial it with limited vendors (that offer delivery) before we open the doors to all potential traders (within reason) in November (fingers crossed). The sticking point atm is delivery, as this obviously limits those businesses that do not offer it. So, ideally, we aim to have a delivery driver to connect local businesses/traders by Christmas, which will depend on vendor uptake and sales (the delivery agent app is already ready).
The website itself (est. June 2022) is otherwise doing well with a bit of tourist-related traffic and high SEO ranking for Bangor-related content (try Googling Bangor NI, Bangor Northern Ireland etc). It therefore has potential for wider/international sales etc.... But the focus for now is connecting local businesses and creating a shop local community in Bangor. Going forward the website also has a lot of potential sections for local events/ticketing, andโฆ we really just need a Bangor-related website, with Bangor-specific stuff, thatโs all Bangor-related.
So, ideally, we want to have the marketplace moving on the run up to Christmas, and, given success etc. we will then consider whatโs next. The marketplace will otherwise continue pretty much indefinitely as a local marketplace to trial and test products. It comes at no extra expense to ourselves, as itโs already up and running, and we will also use it to test our own ideas/markets/products.
Anyway, if anyone is interested in potentially joining the marketplace, or knows someone who maybe, or is just interested in updates on etc., you can email: [email protected].
