🐾 JAC & BELLATRIX’S DEVON TRAILS — Episode 4 🌧️

This week: Wistlandpound Reservoir, North Devon

It was absolutely hoofing it down.

Bellatrix’s verdict:

🌧️ Weather: a personal attack. Unacceptable.
💧 Puddles: everywhere. Suspicious AND wet.
🌊 Reservoir views: stunning
🐿️ Small furries: sensibly staying indoors unlike SOME of us
🐕 Zoomies: limited.

Despite the rain, it was absolutely beautiful. Moody skies, the reservoir stretching out ahead, that particular kind of wild Devon weather that makes you feel completely alive.

Worth every soggy step.

📍 Wistlandpound Reservoir, North Devon

The Bellatrix ratings so far

🌿 Ep 1 — Braunton Burrows ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “Exceptional zoomie conditions”
🌳 Ep 2 — Blakewell to Mannings Pitt ⭐⭐⭐⭐ “Strong small furry presence”
🏔️ Ep 3 — Hillsborough ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “Woodland AND zoomies. Chef’s kiss”
💧 Ep 4 — Wistlandpound Reservoir ⭐ “A swimming lesson I did not sign up for” 😂

Where should we walk next? Somewhere DRY preferably.

It’s 2003. I’m 22. I’m in Melbourne with my best friend Jo.

(Mel-bun by the way. Not born. Took me an embarrassing amount of time to learn that.)

I found myself at a pub quiz night with a random fellow traveller. There are teams everywhere. Teams of 8. Teams of 10. Teams of 12. There are 2 of us.
We should have had absolutely no chance.

I’ve never admitted this publicly before but… 👇

I may have used my charm to extract some answers from some very helpful security staff. 😬😂

We won. $200. Two girls against everyone.

It must have looked SO suspicious. 😂

Australia my gap year — part of a round the world trip that changed everything about how I see the world.

🌊 Being flipped spectacularly at Bondi Beach in deeply unflattering circumstances
🤿 The Great Barrier Reef in a full jellyfish suit pulled right over my hands 😂
🦈 Fraser Island — dingos, tiger sharks, absolutely no swimming
🏙️ Standing in front of the Sydney Opera House and genuinely not being able to speak

Travel does that to you. It changes you. It shows you the world is bigger and more wonderful than you ever imagined.

And it makes you want more.

People often ask me what I actually do.

This is what I actually do.

And honestly? I still can’t believe I get to call it work.

If something about this makes you curious, my DMs are always open. No pitch. Just a conversation. 🧡

✈️ Right. I need your help. And your honest stories.

You know I’m a terrified flyer. Properly terrified. White knuckles, panic rituals, the whole thing.

And yet I’ve been to Australia. Austria. Bali. Fiji. America. Egypt is coming in August. 🇪🇬

I board anyway. Every single time.
But I want to know, what are YOUR strategies?

✅ Do you have a ritual that gets you through?
✅ Has anything actually helped with the fear?
✅ Or are you white-knuckling it alongside me?

Drop your tips, your stories, your coping strategies below, the more honest the better!

Because I think there are more of us than people admit. And I think we should talk about it.

I want to tell you about the night the sky caught fire.

We were in Åre, Sweden. A trip I’d wanted to take my whole life.

The week had already been extraordinary:

🐕 Si driving the husky sled across a frozen lake while I held on for dear life
🚐 Si ALSO driving the snow quad through frozen forests while Angie and I sat in the trailer because neither of us were brave enough
🦌 Feeding reindeer lichen with frozen fingers
☕ Eating approximately one thousand cinnamon buns
❄️ Frozen toes. Every. Single. Day.

And then one night we looked up.

Green. Gold. Pink. Dancing across the entire sky.

The Aurora Borealis.

I stood there with Si, with Jude and Alfie, with our brilliant friends Angie and Ollie and froze (in every sense!)

Because I’d wanted to see that my whole life.
And there it was.

This is why I travel. Despite the fear. Despite the frozen toes. Despite sitting in a trailer while my husband drives a snow quad at alarming speed. 😂

The world is extraordinary.

Board anyway. 💛

Something stopped me in my tracks this week.

The average human lifespan is 29,000 days.

Some get more. Some get less. But that’s roughly what we get.

Break it down into weeks and it really focuses the mind. 👇

I’m in my 47th year.
I’ve lived 2,442 weeks.
I have 1,732 weeks remaining.

Which means, if I’m lucky, I have:
🎄 33 Christmas mornings left
🎂 33 more birthdays
🌕 411 full moons
🏖️ 398 summer beach days
🌅 12,124 sunsets

I sat with that for a while.

33 Christmases sounds like a lot until you really think about it. 398 beach days sounds like plenty until you realise that’s less than 400 summer days for the rest of your life.

And then I thought about all the holidays I keep saying I’ll take one day. All the places I keep meaning to visit. All the things I keep putting off until the time is right.

The time IS right. It’s right now. 💛

Don’t wait. Book the trip. See the thing. Go to the place. Make the memory. Life is too short.

And if more travel is what you’re after, I can absolutely help with that.

Or if you want to build something that gives you the freedom to say yes more often, you know where I am.

“The world is too beautiful to stay home.”

Boarding Anyway. 💛

Can I tell you something that might blow your mind?

Every time you book a holiday through a comparison site or travel conglomerate, someone is earning commission on that booking. That commission is going somewhere. It always does.
So here’s your two options 👇

Option 1 🌍

You love travel. You’re always recommending holidays to friends anyway. You want something flexible that fits around your life. Become a travel agent. Earn that commission yourself. On your OWN holidays and everyone else’s. That’s what I did.

Option 2 🧡

You just want a brilliant holiday sorted by someone who genuinely cares without lining the pockets of a faceless corporation. Book through me. Same price. Better service. Real person. Real passion.

Either way, why wouldn’t you?

💬 DM me and let’s chat whether you’re curious about Option 1, Option 2 or both!

🐾 JAC & BELLATRIX’S DEVON TRAILS — Episode 3 🌿

This week: Hillsborough, Ilfracombe

Now THIS is more like it.

Bellatrix’s verdict:

🌊 Coastal views: breathtaking (wasted on her)
🏃 Open space for zoomies: excellent. Full approval.
🌳 Woodland sections: outstanding small furry potential 🐿️

“Now THAT’S a walk. Woodland AND open space. Whoever planned this route deserves a treat.”

Hillsborough is honestly stunning. Coastal views, woodland paths, open hillside and Ilfracombe laid out below you. One of North Devon’s hidden gems. 💛

Friday looked like this.

Spa day with one of my favourite humans.

Because sometimes you just need to press pause, put on a fluffy robe and remember that you are a person as well as a mum, a professional and a dog walker.

Mary Bunches thank you for being my person.

Not every Friday looks like this. But more of them do than they used to.
