Sure the fighting is exciting but between the white tents of the Norman and Saxon encampments there is the lives they were fighting for. We loved exploring the camps, seeing traditional weapon making, how they spun wool,kept warm, fed & entertained themselves. Thank you to the incredible reenactors for their knowledge & warmth, what an amazing group of people.

A SPECIAL WELCOME TO BATTLE’S BIG GREEN DAY 🌿🎉

We’re delighted to announce that Cllr Sue Burton, Mayor of Battle, will officially open Battle’s Big Green Day this Sunday.

The Mayor will be joining us in the Battle Memorial Hall foyer at 10:55am to say a few words before officially opening the event at 11am.

It’s a lovely chance to come along, meet Battle’s Mayor and help us kick off a day celebrating practical ideas, local action and the brilliant people working to make Battle a greener place to live.

And keep an eye on Sue’s outfit too… 👀

She may be wearing more than just her mayoral chain around her neck. Can you guess what the second one is made from, and why it fits perfectly with the spirit of Battle’s Big Green Day?

6000 people from Battle and Hastings voted to rename the South Eastern train King Harold II in celebration of the Bayeux Tapesty coming to London.

The train also depicts scenes of the Bayeux Tapesty on the carriages of the train. have given local school children 1066 free train tickets to enable them to visit the Bayeux Tapestry at

This train will play an important part in bringing tourists down to to see where the 1066 Battle happened!

So jump on board and come and today!

Today at 11am! Free walking tour of Coastal Currents open galleries. Meet outside the vets in Mount street car park!

FREE walking art trail tour! Don't miss this event if you like to see art in various studios.

Happening this Saturday in conjunction with the Coastal Currents Festival in Battle,
We are delighted to announce that there will be a trail wide walking tour hosted by Angie from Barnaby’s Battle.

Starting at Mount St Car Park (meet outside the vets practice) at 11 am, the tour will take in all the studios across the town.
Angie will have a brolly for those of you who don’t know her

The tour will last from 11-2 pm and head from Mount St, through town allowing a 15 min stop at each venue to have a brief glimpse into the world of a working artist, and then have a drinks break at The Railway Pub taking in some more of the artwork there,

The tour will head up as far a Starrs Mead which is at the end of the trail.

This will be an amazing FREE event, so please feel free to come along,
It would be great to know numbers, so if you can come along, email [email protected] alternatively, come on the day. All welcome, bring a raincoat if needed and some good boots, it’s all on the path so no muddy fields, bring your dog if you like,
(Not all of the venues are wheelchair friendly however, but we will do our best to make it a great tour)
