Last minute holidays can be amazing - but they work best when expectations match reality.

I often see enquiries with a list of demands as long as your arm: specific dates, exact room types, preferred flight times, particular pools, certain board basis, all while hoping for peak season prices at off season rates.

The truth is simple:
Last minute travel requires flexibility.

Being open to alternative airports, different dates, varied accommodation styles or a change in destination can unlock far better value and far better availability.

If you're ready to compromise a little, I can still find you something brilliant - but the magic happens when the wishlist becomes a guide, not a rulebook.

Good accommodation is always at a premium in Kalami, one of the prettiest hamlets along Corfu’s favoured northeast coast, so we are delighted to offer these apartments which enjoy an enviable position and views. They are quietly located on the hillside above Kalami, no more than a minute or two's walk down to the beach and village.

To the front of the property is the large freshwater swimming pool with separate children’s section and spacious furnished pool terrace surrounds.

Kalami is easily reached via a small path, where you will find four atmospheric local tavernas, a café-bar, a pair of mini-markets (one will deliver) and a couple of small bars. Further dining choices can be found over the headland at Agni or Kouloura in c 20 minutes' walk (note: the Agni tavernas often operate a free taxi-boat service in the evenings for their Kalami clients).

I often talk about keeping an open mind and being flexible if you need to compromise on something.

Recently I was approached by a family whose budget was £4000 and their heart was set on Anda Barut Collection, Didim, Turkey.

This is a beautiful hotel and we've been getting lots of enquiries lately for it. It was a bit over budget for October half term at £4239, so I took a look at Easter and the price was £2838!

October temperature is around 25 degrees and April will be around 20 degrees.

Would you pay a bit more, or would you compromise on the weather for the best value price? The weather is never guaranteed anyway, right?

Knowing your budget or expectation of cost isn't limiting your options - it's about finding the right ones.

When you give me a clear price range, it means I can filter out the suppliers most likely to meet your needs.

I always do my best to work with your budget, but please be realistic.

Sometimes I'm given tiny budgets with a long checklist for last minute holidays during peak time travel (all inclusive, waterslides etc)

If you are travelling on a really small budget, please be flexible and prepared to compromise.

Note that I don't sell hotels that currently have less than 4* on Trip Advisor or have consistent, recent bad reviews.

MICRO-BREAKS

When I was younger, it was popular for people to have a two week summer holiday. The UK market has really moved away from that now and lots of short breaks throughout the year becoming more popular.

Many of you opting for 1, 2 or 3 nights breaks. If I'm having a city break, I personally feel like I need to stay at least three nights to soak up the atmosphere. But I'm not adverse to the odd overnight somewhere.

These micro-breaks can give us something to look forward to. A little reset to come back feeling like yourself.
