Friday 22nd. 2 spaces on a guided Bass trip. £90 each. All rods, tackle, bait, lures provided. Tuition given. Maximum 5 people on the boat, so plenty of room. Sailing from Menai Bridge Pier 09:30. 8 hour trip.

Saturday 23rd 4 spaces available on an 8 hour trip from Beaumaris. Sailing at 10am General ground. £60 each.

Sunday 24th 4 spaces available on an 8 hour general ground trip from Beaumaris. Sailing at 9:00 am. £60 each.

Tackle hire available on the general trips and bait can be arranged.

Where have all the Mackerel gone? Eventually found some at about 4 miles out; unusual not to be catching plenty in August. Anyway managed to get enough to have a crack at the Bass on the way back in. Reward with two nice takers at 58 and 50cm for Andy an Ady. Topped a day that also saw Po***ck, Pout, Launce, Mackerel, Weaver, Tope and Spurdog.
Isabella Jack is available for all types of trips, including, Bass, Tope, Shark, Wrecking and General.

Don’t know where to start with this weekend. Coloured water big tides and a distinct lack of Mackerel. However, this did not dampen the spirits of both crews and they got to work bringing fish to the boat. Even the dogfish were conspicuous by their scarcity, but we did manage to get some.
Catch return included Mackerel, Scad, Dogfish, Bullhuss, Tope, Smoothound, Strap Conger,

With the weather forcing the cancellation of a planned sharking trip, the guys opted for plan B afforded by the shelter of the Menai Strait. We set out to see if we could snag some livebaits and firstly have a go for the Bass. We managed one Launce, and a few Mackerel at the first spot, but the swell forced us back inside, where we picked up a few small Po***ck. Moved again to another bank where we managed to find plenty of Mackerel. Had a few drifts for the Bass and brought in half a Mackerel bitten clean on two, we suspected Tope. Managed to hook a Bass only for this to be chomped. Down went the anchor, rewarded with a small Smoothound to start followed by two nice Tope which both fell to Dale, going 22lb and 26lb. Weather improved so pushed out to Puffin to see if we could snag some Po***ck, but wind kept pushing us on to the island. Decided to give one of the close in wrecks a look at but only found Pouting. Back to out previous Tope mark and were rewarded with several small Tope and another nice one of around 20lb caught by Lee. A nice Huss and several dogfish wrapped up the day after the Skipper was bitten off by another nice Tope.

Perseverance and patience paid off for the lads in search of toothy critters. Started off on the reef with a fair few Po***ck up to 2lb and a smattering of Mackerel. Moved to the sand and had plenty of Mackerel there to fill our bait needs. Only 2 Tope to the boat the first a lovely fish of 38lb and the second around 20lb which did a Houdini out of the net so no picture. A few nice Huss, Cuckoo Wrasse and Thornbacks completed the day.

Just received my new Tope net from Stainless Steve. Fantastic piece if kit, thanks Steve. Can’t wait to put it into action. Plenty of availability during August on Isabella Jack.

What difference a day makes; oh and a change of venue!
Decided to push through to the west side of Anglesey for yesterdays trip and avoid the previous days swelly conditions.
Flat calm, blue skies, great company and some fish to boot.
Started off on the reef. Certainly no issues finding the Mackerel. Po***ck from the reef then out on a couple of different marks and down with big fish baits resulting in nice Huss and Thornbacks. Lovely.

Talk about rubbish forecasts. I’d love to know where the 2-3 mph gust went today? Turned a little lumpy with actual gust...

Talk about rubbish forecasts. I’d love to know where the 2-3 mph gust went today? Turned a little lumpy with actual gusts up to 13 mph. Anyway, the lads stuck it out. Mackerel were hard to find, but they weedled some out and had enough to take home as well as bait. Managed a few decent Po***ck in the end, the best just shy of 7lb. Even the Skipper managed one. All in all a great day out with a smashing bunch of lads. Out on the other side of the island tomorrow and hope for calmer seas. 4 spaces available tomorrow. 12 noon sail. PM me if you’d like to come along? £50 per person.

Lovely day on the water, but Mackerel hard to come by. Managed to winkle enough out for the day though. Po***ck, Mackerel, Doggies, Whiting, Gurnard, Huss, Pouts seemed to be the order of the day. Tope didn’t come out to play and we lost a Bass at the boat. The two guys from Searigs, Mark and Karl demonstrated the effectiveness of some of their lures. Out fished the other offerings on the day. Very effective on some nice light tackle. I’m putting an order in.

Well we’re all set up now to offer bespoke Bass fishing trips. Livebait tank installed and ready to hit the silver bars....
