Tims Blog…

Another glorious week here at Kingslakes, sunshine and fish feeding after a spawning spree.
On Monday I had a lovely day in the company of John and Tracey Bartlett on woodpecker.
Perfect conditions for some excellent roach fishing, caught fish pretty much all day having fun on my 3metre whip with a 6 elastic, really light rig with an 18 hook . Fished my trusty micro pellet and loose feed maggot with red maggot as hook bait . Most fish between 4-6oz with a few beautiful roach to 1lb8oz .Bumped loads of fish even on light gear ( muppetry) Hopefully have my pole back next week after an unfortunate snapping incident ( more muppetry)
Thank you to John and Tracey for the company , John had a cracking day with the highlights being a 2lb perch and a 5lb 8oz tench.
Wednesday saw our latest competition on woodpecker and in a contrast to Monday it was a little bit harder .Match report will follow soon. Came second again, can’t wait to get my pole back.
Thanks to everyone who fished especially Lucus hurcombe who fished exceptionally well to win the day.
News from my main office, no fishing for me on Thursday as had photographer Matt ( passion4photos) along to do a photo shoot of some of the dishes on our new menu for 2025 . We will post them as soon as he sends them back to us for you to see what to look forward too.

That’s all for now
Tight lines

The weather is definitely playing nicely here in Devon and it’s that time of year that our alpacas are sheared. Our two older ones, Al and Jasmine were definitely ready. Our three new youngsters, Hugo, Bertie and Rupert had their first shearing and coped very well🥰🥰

Tim’s blog from the Easter holidays…

Hi Everyone, what a beautiful week here at Kingslakes in my second office.
News of how the fishing is going:
Monday-had some visitors this week in my wife and grandson so had a few hours on Kitchen lake, very basic tactics using top 2’s and new margin poles. Bait of choice sweet corn and luncheon meat, with the additional of my trusted “Special G” paste and micro pellets.
They both caught fish with some tench, skimmers and carp with the best mirror carp to the little man at 7lb 12ozs(see photos), he was delighted!😀 Slow day overall as the carp were enjoying the sun rather than biting.
Wednesday saw the first of our midweek friendly silver fish matches held every week on either Nuthatch or Woodpecker lakes.
Really sunny and glorious hot day with seven sun tan lotioned anglers fishing, tough day but everyone caught and enjoyed the day. Everyone started off catching but for a two hour spell in the middle when it went really quiet for everyone.
I was lucky enough to get Peg 4(not fixed honestly🤪). Finished with 16lb 9oz of a mixed bag of bream, tench, crucial, roach and rudd. Still can’t bag a bite on the inside, caught all my fish on 11 metres (with a couple of bream on at 13 metres)
Bait of choice, usual for me, red maggot on hook feeding micro’s (obviously) maggot and some groundbait (but that was more in desperation in the quiet period).
Managed to win the day! Superb new trophies for this seasons winners so come and have a fun day with others on site when you are visiting.
Thursday- Had a cracking day on Woodpecker with regular visitor Steve Feddery and a couple of other gents staying.
Fish caught all day with Steve catching roach a fish a chuck all day. “The best roach fishing we have ever had” I also managed a few slap bream and some clonking tench. Perch, rudd, crucial and more tench being caught all over the lake. Pegs 7&8 on the far bank, all fish on single maggot (red & white). All long 9/11/13 metres with float as low as you could go. Very touchy bites.
Had a cracking week, thanks to all who fished on Wednesday and special thanks to Steve for the company on Thursday. Looking forward to seeing you all.
I’ll be back in my first office (kitchen) if you want to come and say hello and get any info on the lakes.
Back to slaving over a hot stove now!
Tight lines…
