🌿 Our Amazon Adventure — A Bucket List Experience 🛶

Rachel & Bill ticked off one of their bucket list wishes — the Amazon — and it turned out to be the highlight of our South American journey. An experience we just had to share.
We’ve always dreamed of exploring the Amazon Rainforest, and it did not disappoint. We flew into Manaus, Brazil, the gateway to the jungle — and the adventure began straight away.

🚕 After landing, we soaked up the unique Manaus vibe and prepared for what lay ahead.

🛶 Early the next morning, our group — the Magnificent Seven — hopped into motorised canoes and set off along the river. We witnessed the incredible Meeting of the Waters, where the brown Amazon River flows side-by-side with the dark Rio Negro without mixing. You could even feel the temperature difference between them.

🌿 Amazon Eco Park Jungle Lodge became our home in the heart of the rainforest, surrounded by jungle sounds, natural pools and a private beach. We shared meals on a floating restaurant, met friendly locals in riverine villages, and learned just how massive Pirarucu fish really are.

🥾 One of the standout moments was a three-hour hike deep into the Amazon with a guide and his assistant wielding a machete to cut our way through the dense jungle. It was tough in places, mainly due to the high humidity, but absolutely worth it. A true rainforest experience from start to finish.

🌙 One evening, we went caiman-spotting by torchlight, their eyes glowing as they watched us from the riverbanks. Our guide, Angelo, had spent weeks training in the jungle, and his knowledge brought the forest to life.

🌱 During our hikes we discovered medicinal plants, navigated raised tree roots, and spotted playful black capuchin monkeys swinging overhead. We also visited a Caboclo village and learned how Tucupi juice is made from manioc root — a fascinating traditional process.

🎣 We even tried piranha fishing. They slipped off the line, but seeing those sharp teeth up close was unforgettable.

✨ Every part of this Amazon experience was filled with wild beauty, culture and unforgettable moments. If you ever get the chance to explore the rainforest — take it. 🌎💚
