We had a wonderful Bridge tour onboard Silversea Silver Ray with the absolutely brilliant Captain Giovanni Schiaffino

One thing that caught our eye was this colouring in by Hokulani Feeney on the wall in the crew area! Weโ€™re sure Hokulani and their parents will never know, but to think that this colouring in and the words on the sheet made such an impression that the Captain made sure to have it on the wall and to see it every day! It speaks volumes for the man himself! (Wouldnโ€™t it be lovely for the Feeney family to know โ€ฆ?)

Captain Schiaffino was there himself to greet us, he was generous with his time, he was incredibly open with his answers to everyoneโ€™s questions as we talked about his time with Virgin Voyages, with Silversea, how they differ, his life at sea, his crew, his story, his family and cruising in general.

Of course we learned all about the Bridge, about captaining Silver Ray and more!

He is a joy and you could see the family that existed and everyone had created onboard Silver Ray โ€ฆ you would often see Captain Schiaffino in the Arts Cafe talking to guests or around the ship sitting and chatting with crew. You could see the relationships and genuine friendship on stage when all the crew were presented!

He certainly made a huge impression on us in just a few days and weโ€™d love to cruise with him again! Thank you Captain!

Did you know that today is National Travel Agent Day? It is a day designed to celebrate travel agents up and down the country. It was an idea that came during the pandemic with the first Travel Agent Day in 2020, right at the heart of the pandemic with the aim of lifting morale amongst agents working around the clock to protect, rebook and refund bookings ...

For us? We don't need a day that tells us to appreciate or thank our crew, we know how lucky we are to have them at The Cruise Room both in our Belfast Office in Titanic Quarter & in our Wirral Store.

Meet The Crew of Silversea Silver Rayโ€ฆ

We love the crew parade! Watch here how the Cruise Director knows all the crews names, the Captian has brought a little girl on stage to help, how butlers wave to their guestsโ€ฆ

There were gifts to those finishing their contracts, guests were getting emotional! This is a family and it was a lovely sight & opportunity to say thank you to them all!
