✨ SUNDAY SPOTLIGHT ✨

This week’s spotlight is going to Magic Mike… 😉😂

NO, not that Magic Mike! 👀😂
We mean our very own Mike from Magic Decor ! 🎨🖌️

Now Mike might not technically be on the MMGA committee… yet 👀😂 but you’d never know it!

Whether it’s one of our clean-ups, painting sessions, the Kite Festival or basically anything else we rope everyone into, Mike is always there, sleeves rolled up and getting stuck in 💪👏

He’s a brilliant help, an even better laugh and exactly the kind of person we’re lucky to have supporting what we’re trying to do in Millisle. ❤️

When he’s not volunteering his time with us, Mike runs Magic Decor, offering professional painting and decorating services. 🎨🏠

So if your house is crying out for a fresh coat of paint, a room needs transformed or you’ve got some decorating you’ve been putting off… give Magic Decor a follow and keep Mike in mind! 🙌

It’s always great to support local businesses — but even better when you’re supporting someone who continually gives their own time back to the community. 💪❤️

While lots of people were still tucked up in bed this morning some of our team was back out grafting at Millisle Primary School 💪 getting it ready for the kids going back 🥰 we joined up with the PTA and painted, weeded, power washed and cleaned 💪🥰 after the amazing kite festival yesterday this has been a very productive weekend 😂💪

💐 FUNERAL NOTICE 💐

It is with great sadness that we announce Gary has finally been worked into the ground by Make Millisle Great Again. 😂

In keeping with his final wishes, he has requested to be buried amongst the hanging baskets. 🌺⚰️

However, reports of his death may be slightly exaggerated… so before we actually kill the poor man, CAN ANYONE GIVE US A HAND ON TUESDAY?! 😂😂

We’ll be cleaning and tidying ahead of the Kite Festival and the more hands we have, the more we can get done! Bring along gloves, brushes or anything useful if you can. 🧹🧤

✨ WHAT A DIFFERENCE A YEAR MAKES! ✨

This day last year, the Make Millisle Great Again team came together for our very first community clean-up — and what an amazing result we had! 🥹💪

Looking back at this video, it’s incredible to think about just how much has happened since then. ❤️

Over the past year, with the help and support of our wonderful community, we’ve:

🧹 Carried out community clean-ups, beach clean-ups and tackled overgrown areas around the village
🌿 Weed-cleared local areas and car parks
🎨 Raised funds and commissioned multiple murals to brighten up Millisle
🚩 Purchased and put up bunting flags around the village
🐾 Purchased and installed multiple dog waste bag dispensers and signs
❤️ And plenty more along the way!

We’re incredibly proud of what has been achieved in just one year — but there’s always more we can do! 💪

🧹 COMMUNITY CLEAN-UP — TUESDAY 18TH AUGUST, 6–8PM 🧹

With the Peninsula Kite Festival coming up, we’d love to get the village looking its best for all our visitors! 🪁🌊

Whether you can stay for the full two hours or just spare half an hour, every extra pair of hands makes a difference. If possible, please bring along any gloves, brushes or other clean-up/weeding tools you have.

🌟 SUNDAY SPOTLIGHT – McCLEMENTS CHIPPY, MILLISLE 🌟

This week’s Sunday Spotlight is going to a Millisle institution… and dare we say, a bit of a local celebrity 😂🐟🍟

📍 McClements Chippy – Main Street, Millisle

If you mention Millisle to people from outside the village, there’s a VERY good chance they already know about “that great chippy” 😂🙌 McClements has built up quite the reputation over the years – and for very good reason!

The food is always beautifully fresh, the staff are friendly and helpful, and whether you’re sitting in or taking it home, it’s hard to beat a proper chippy tea 😍

🍳 And we HAVE to give a special mention to the big breakfast fry – available ALL DAY and an absolute belter. Because who decided fry-ups should only be eaten before lunchtime anyway?! 😂👏

🍻 Sunday Spotlight – First and Last Millisle , Millisle 🍻

This week's spotlight is one of the village favourites... First & Last Bar, 37 Main Street! 🍺

Open 7 days a week, it's the perfect place to catch up with friends, enjoy a game of pool 🎱, stick your favourite tunes on the jukebox 🎶, or relax outside in the outdoor seating area when the weather behaves itself! ☀️

With a welcoming atmosphere, lovely staff, a Punters Club, regular events, yummy cocktails 🍸 and Bacardi Breezers now on offer 😋... what's not to love?
