Touring Around Belfast

Touring Around Belfast Welcome to Touring Around Belfast.

Belfast is the capital of N.Ireland geographically part of the island of Ireland, but politically in the UK, so from the start of your visit you will find yourself in a land of contrasts – geographically, politically and culturally, from the marble Arch Caves to the basalt columns at the Causeway, fiddles banjos and Lambeg drums all brought together in a great big eclectic bundle of pick and mix.

Fairy glens to ceilli bars put on your mountain boots or high heeled shoes, tap your toes to traditional musicians or punk rock bands, swing across Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge or jig a reel across the dance floor. Listen to mythical tales and visit world heritage sites in a land that provided America with a quarter of its Presidents, built the Titanic and invented air conditioning – there’s just so much more to see and do in Belfast and beyond. A tour around some of our finest food producers.
Starting off from the newly revamped Slieve Donard we visited Neary Nogs chocolate factory and yes that is a very heavy slab of delicious chocolate. Needed a whiskey after that and hidden deep in the Mourne’s Brendan spends his days mixing, distilling and tasting magical Mountain Dew, Kilowen Irish Whiskey Slainte.
Not far away in Kilkeel harbour down by the fishing boats Michelle and Wee Ray of Crawfords Rock are serving up the most splendid seashore feast of mussels, herrings, lobsters and oysters before paddling in the Irish Sea on a seaweed harvest, magical days in a fairytale land.
Up early next morning to visit Long Meadow in the Orchard County to sample Kathryn’s Long Meadow ciders and apple juices, delicious.
Another county into Fermanagh and Tempo Curley Pigs farm where from Dungannon Market you can buy piggy meats and the best salamis this side of a Madrid tapas from the fabously passionate Stephen and Rachael.

From a trip to the borders, Carlisle and Dumfries, castles cathedrals Roman ruins and Hadrians wall. A wee trip to the Lake District and Wordsworths Grasmere.
Borderlands Debatable lands the Rievers Trail to the gallows or Ulster the Hermitage castle the bloodiest castle in the bloodiest valley in bloody Scotland.
Back up through Dumfries Robert the Bruce, Robbie Burns and Peter Pan.
Informative educational but most of all entertaining.
