A lovely day spent onboard Silver Dawn during a Southampton ship visit.

One of the unexpected highlights was having arranged to meet some of our valued clients who were on this voyage. It was wonderful to sit down for a chat and catch up, and for them to meet Stacey.

Ship visits are always invaluable as they allow us to experience the atmosphere, dining venues and public spaces for ourselves rather than relying solely on marketing materials. There is no product knowledge better than this and of course opportunities to stay on board and cruise for a few days.

Silver Dawn certainly didn’t disappoint…

I’ve finally revisited and completely refreshed my original reflections on the extraordinary Le Commandant Charcot ❄️

Whilst writing this new feature, I also dug back through many of my own photographs and suite walkthrough videos captured during my time onboard in 2023 — and it reminded me just how unique this remarkable ship truly is.

Accessible accommodation at sea has come a long way — and aboard Le Bougainville, the design feels both practical and genuinely luxurious.

During my recent voyage, I stayed in one of the ship’s accessible staterooms and was impressed by how seamlessly the additional accessibility features blended into the elegant overall design.

For guests researching luxury cruising with mobility considerations, I hope this gives a useful real-world insight into what the onboard experience can actually feel like.

Today is National Maritime Day ⚓

Behind every unforgettable voyage, beautifully run ship, seamless expedition landing and magical moment at sea, there is an extraordinary crew making it all happen.

From bridge officers to housekeeping, galley teams to expedition staff, engineering to hospitality — life at sea depends on professionalism, resilience, teamwork and genuine care, often whilst spending many months away from home.

Having been fortunate enough to spend time onboard so many remarkable ships over the years, I’ve met some truly wonderful people across the oceans of the world — and putting this little compilation together has been a lovely way to relive some of those moments.

It’s been wonderful reliving some of these moments whilst putting this compilation together — memories spanning several years at sea.

Today feels like the perfect opportunity to simply say thank you to everyone who lives and works at sea, and to all those behind the scenes who keep the maritime world moving every single day. 🌍🚢
