This is my portrait of Super Diego - the world's most famous giant tortoise after Lonesome George died two years ago, rendering his subspecies extinct. Super Diego is 133 years old and, unlike Lonesome George, who conservationists were unable to breed from, Super Diego is father to an estimated 1,700 saddle-backed Espanola tortoises and almost solely responsible for rescuing this rare subspecies from the brink of extinction. Way to Go Diego!!!
