Cuba, the Cuba we know and love. 🇨🇺🌿

Right now, life in Cuba is incredibly difficult. There are real challenges facing people across the island, and we know that the Cuba many of you have visited - or dreamed of visiting - can feel very different at the moment.

But beneath the difficulties, the beauty is still here. The wild landscapes, untouched beaches, turquoise waters, mountains, countryside and the warmth of the Cuban people are all part of the Cuba we’ve always loved sharing with you.

We miss travelling, exploring and showing you these places. We miss the conversations, the adventures, the laughter and those moments that make Cuba so special.

We’re thinking of our friends, families and communities across the island, and hoping for easier days ahead. ❤️

Until then, we’ll keep sharing the Cuba we know and love - and we hope to welcome you back when the time is right.

In Cuba, getting from A to B has always required a little creativity - and perhaps nowhere is Cuban ingenuity more visible than on the streets.

Classic 1950s Chevrolets share the road with horse-drawn carriages, Soviet-era Ladas, almendrones, cocotaxis, bicycles and buses. Cars that have been kept running for generations, engines replaced, parts repurposed and ingenious solutions found when the original solution simply isn’t available.

Since the fuel embargo was imposed on Cuba by the USA, Cubans have increasingly had to resort to alternative forms of transportation. And the new king of the Cuban road? The electric triciclo. Often powered by solar energy, these three-wheeled workhorses are used to transport people, goods, make deliveries - you name it.

In collaboration with Latinxcluded, all ticket sales will go towards food and essential supplies for communities in need across Cuba. ❤️

What Would Fidel Say?

On 13 August, Fidel Castro would have turned 100.

Nearly seven decades ago, he and a band of revolutionaries overthrew the Batista dictatorship, promising a fairer, more just Cuba. The revolution sought to build a new world. Today, many Cubans are simply trying to get through the day.

Power cuts are now part of everyday life. For many families, electricity is available for only a few hours each day. In the suffocating summer heat, that means sleepless nights, spoiled food and a constant struggle to keep going.

Fuel shortages have created a chain reaction. Rubbish piles up on street corners because collection trucks cannot run. Fumigation programmes have been disrupted. Dengue and stomach viruses are spreading. The human cost is impossible to ignore.

Yet despite the suffering, neither Washington nor Havana appears willing to make the compromises needed to ease the crisis.

As Cuba marks what would have been Fidel’s 100th birthday, it’s hard not to wonder:

Despite the challenges, Cuba remains breathtaking. 🇨🇺

Beyond the headlines, there is still the Cuba that has captivated travellers for generations - crystal-clear waters, untouched landscapes, quiet beaches, dramatic mountains, hidden waterfalls and moments of extraordinary natural beauty.

A country’s struggles do not erase its magic. The warmth of its people, the richness of its culture and the beauty of its landscapes remain.

Watching the sunrise over the mountains on our Los Acuáticos Sunrise Trek is a reminder that Cuba's beauty goes far beyond its colourful streets and classic cars. It's found in the quiet trails, the fresh mountain air, the breathtaking views, and the people who call these landscapes home.
