Our first review of the year...
We had the privilege of being the first guests in this beautifully and tastefully converted first floor flat in a building which was previously the Gaiety Cinema. The flat has such style; is so very comfortable; so very well equipped and the views over the estuary and sea are wonderful.
Appledore is delightful - interesting small shops and galleries and pubs with character to enjoy good ales and first class food including locally caught fish. Breakfast in the Coffee Cabin is not to be missed - you will not need to worry with lunch!
We would return to Shoreline - which would be enjoyed at any time of the year.
Brian - Cirencester.

THINGS TO DO WHILE IN APPLEDORE...
Bird watching at Northam Burrows
If you follow the South West Coast Path out of Appledore towards Westwood Ho! you will soon reach Northam Burrows Country Park an area of outstanding natural beauty. It’s a grassy coastal plain, with salt marshes and sand dunes and home to many different birds like egrets, curlews, whimbrels, shelducks and of course oystercatchers.

THINGS TO DO WHILE IN APPLEDORE...
Cycling the Tarka Trail
The Tarka Trail forms part of the Devon Coast to Coast cycle route. It is just over 30 miles and runs from Braunton to Meeth via Barnstaple on a disused railway line. Offering fantastic views of the Taw and Torridge estuary you can hire bikes either at the hire shop by the Puffing Billy in Great Torrington (which is an old railway station turned pub/café and restaurant) and also in Bideford.

THINGS TO DO WHILE IN APPLEDORE...
Watersports
There is no shortage of watersport activities to enjoy during an Appledore holiday. From bass fishing or a river cruise on the Cheeky Monkey pleasure boat, to surfing, kayaking, kite surfing, windsurfing, sailing and canoeing. In addition to the hire shops in Westwood Ho!, Skern Lodge in nearby Watertown offers group activities throughout the summer months. Land lovers are also well catered for in Appledore, there’s cricket in Instow, local football at Appledore FC and Bideford Town FC and golf at the Royal North Devon golf club.

THINGS TO DO WHILE IN APPLEDORE...
Clovelley
Clovelley is a timeless village with steep cobbled streets, white cottages and a tiny harbour. There are no cars (you leave your car at the visitors car park at the entrance to the village) and proceed on foot down the winding cobbled streets. Comfortable shoes are a must. The village is owned privately by one family who work hard to ensure all the buildings are maintained. Supplies are brought into the village by donkey and sled who also offer rides for children in the summer. As you walk through the village there are many houses open to visit that bring Clovelley’s fishing past to life. The picturesque harbour and Red Lion pub offers welcome refreshment before the steep walk back up the hill. (For those who cannot manage the climb back up to the car park there is a Land Rover service for a modest fee.)
