STEP BY STEP GUIDE TO APPLYING FOR SCHENGEN/EUROPE VISA

Step 1: Determine the Type of Visa You Need
Schengen Visas are mainly short-term (Type C), for:

Tourism
Business
Visiting family/friends
Cultural/sports events
Medical reasons
If you plan to stay longer than 90 days, you’ll need a national visa instead.

Step 2: Decide Which Country to Apply To
Apply to the country where you will spend the most days.

If visiting multiple countries equally, apply to the country of first entry.

Step 3: Schedule an Appointment

Visit the embassy/consulate or their official visa processing center (e.g., VFS Global) website to book an appointment.

Step 4: Fill Out the Visa Application Form

Complete the Schengen Visa application form online or download it and fill it manually.
Make sure the form is signed and dated.
Step 5: Gather Required Documents
Common required documents include:

Valid passport (issued within the last 10 years, valid for at least 3 months beyond return date)
Completed and signed application form
Passport-sized photos (2, recent, as per Schengen photo specs)
Flight reservation or itinerary
Proof of accommodation (hotel bookings or invitation letter)
Travel insurance (minimum coverage of €30,000, valid across Schengen area)
Proof of financial means (bank statements, payslips, sponsorship letter)
Cover letter (explaining purpose of travel)
Visa fee payment (usually €80 for adults, €40 for children 6–12, free for under 6)
Additional documents may be needed based on:

Employment status (employed, self-employed, student, retired)
Purpose of travel

Step 6: Attend the Visa Interview

Submit your application in person
Provide biometric data (fingerprints and photo)
Pay the visa fee
Answer questions related to your trip

Step 7: Wait for Processing

Processing usually takes 15 calendar days, but it can take longer in some cases.

Step 8: Collect Your Passport

You’ll be notified to pick up your passport or it may be delivered to you.
If the visa is approved, check the details carefully (dates, name, number of entries, etc.)

Tips:
Apply at least 15 days before travel, but no earlier than 6 months before.
Ensure all documents are authentic and accurate.
Do not book non-refundable flights or hotels until you receive the visa.

Travel and study in Luxembourg 🇱🇺 2025 . Admission to study in Luxembourg is currently going on ( admission started February 1 and it ends April 30 2025 ) and some universities are very affordable as it ranges from €200 per semester and some expensive at €21,000 for the entire period of your program .

Universities for international students 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻

1. The University of Luxembourg ( only public Uni)
-Location: Esch-Belval Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg
- Tuition fee: $200 per semester depending on the cost
- Website: Uni.lu

2. Lunex University.
- Location: Differdange, Luxembourg.
- Tuition fees: €800-900 per month

3. Luxembourg School of Business .
-Location: Cessange Luxembourg
- Tuition Fees: EUR 12,800 per year.

STEP BY STEP PROCESS 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻

1. Research academic programs:
- Explore the courses and degrees offered by each university

2. Check entry requirements:
Academic prerequisites: Ensure you meet the educational requirements (e.g., specific diplomas or grades). Language proficiency: Check the language of instruction (English, French, or German) and provide proof of language skills (TOEFL, IELTS, DELF, etc.)

3. Prepare required documents:
-Transcripts from previous studies (official and translated if needed).
-Motivation letter explaining your interest in the program and why Luxembourg is your choice.
- Apply and summit all required documents 🙌🏻

Application fee is €100 ( refunded once you resume studies )

Admission Letter:
After carefully evaluating your application and it’s approved, the university will send you an official admission letter. Keep this safe, you'll need it for the visa process.

Apply for a Temporary Authorization to Stay (ATS) before applying for the visa itself, you must apply for a Temporary Authorization to Stay from the Luxembourg Immigration :(This can be done online or by post)

Documents needed at the Immigration are👇🏻
- Your admission letter
-Copy passport
-Proof of accommodation in Luxembourg
- Proof of funds (bank statement)
-Health insurance
- Police clearance
- Passport-size photos
Residence permit (if you currently live in another country)
-Power of attorney (if someone is helping you submit your application) you just write you name, case number then sign and scan it , then you send a copy to thee embassy and one to the person submitting your documents .
- Once approved, you’ll receive an ATS letter, which allows you to move on to the visa step.

Apply for the Study Visa (Long-Stay Visa or Type D):
After you can approval of ATS letter in hand, you can now apply for your Type D)
For countries with Luxembourg or consulate the Belgium embassy serves an embassy for applicants. For Nigerians its the Belgium embassy in Abuja , for Cameroonians its the Belgium embassy in Yaoundé or Douala .

- University admission letter
- Proof of funds
- Proof of accommodation
- Valid health insurance
-Police clearance

IMPORTANT NOTICE 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻

For the proof of funds, you should show at least 80–100% of the social inclusion income, which is about €1,849.29/month in 2025. It would be best if you can show more than 100%.
Your Proof of funds (bank statement ) should be in your name or your parents' name only if they are your sponsors. Make sure it covers not less than 1 year of your tuition fee

At your arrival in Luxembourg make sure to finalize your stay, that is once your visa is approved, here’s what to do after you arrive:
-Register at the local commune office within 3 days.-Complete a medical check-up.
-Apply for your residence permit (student card) at the Immigration
