Dear Travel Partners,
As of 25 February 2026, many non-visa nationals must obtain a UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before travelling to the UK for short stays. Costing £16, the digital permission is required for tourists, business visitors, and those in transit, and typically lasts 2 years. The ETA is linked to the traveller’s passport.
ETA - Key Details on UK ETA (As of Feb 2026)

Purpose: Allows entry to the UK for up to 6 months for tourism, visits, or short-term study.
Who Needs It: Non-visa nationals (including citizens from the US, Canada, and Europe) who do not already have a visa or legal immigration status.
Cost & Validity: £16, valid for 2 years (or until the passport expires).
How to Apply: Via the "UK ETA app" or online at GOV.UK.
Processing Time: Most applications are processed within minutes, however, it is recommended to apply at least 3 working days in advance.
Who Does Not Need an ETA
British and Irish Citizens: Exempt.
Visa Holders: Anyone with a valid visa or immigration status (e.g., EU Settlement Scheme) does not need an ETA.
People with Right of Abode: Exempt.

Your eVisa is an online record of your immigration status and the conditions for you to stay in the UK. Your UKVI online account allows you to login to access your eVisa or EUSS status, share your immigration status and keep your details up to date.
If your travel document details are not up to date in your UKVI account, you may experience delays when you travel.
