On last month's Ghost Walk, we were accompanied by Guled Eid, who is writing a dissertation about ghost walks and other "dark tourism". Hoping that some of our clients, friends and supporters will be able to take a few minutes to help Guled in his research by completing a short online questionnaire.

If you've been on a ghost walk (ours or somewhere else) or attended a similar event, the link to use is:

If you've not been on a tour yet, the link is:

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

What an amazing discovery!

A former firefighter station that has been mysteriously shut away for half a century is rediscovered.

Every year on the Sunday closest to 19th September, the "Clyppan the Church" or embracing the church, ceremony takes place in Painswick in Gloucestershire. People from the town join hands around the church and sing the Clyppan Hymn. At a feast before the ceremony a feast of Puppy Dog Pie is serve in the memorial ground. Thankfully the dog meat no longer finds its way into the pies.

Bit of a bus mans holiday, working on a non-tourism project in Portugal, so on my day off took a walking tour of Lisbon with Coca, the young man in the photo.
Liked his introduction "Don't go on an open top bus tour, no body smiles". He was right passed lots of tour buses and didn't see a single smiling face, his tour in contrast had lots of laughs.

We have always been very proud of living and working in, and sharing the history of, the Midlands. Our profile picture on Facebook is of "The Guardian", better know as the Bullring Bull, in Birmingham, and we are delighted that it has been recognised as one of the worlds top public works of art. Creator Laurence Broderick said he couldn't be more delighted, and neither can we.

Whilst in Birmingham today, a very nice Egyptian couple with their two children asked the way to the Jewellery Quarter, as I was going that way anyway, and the road works around Paradise Circus would have been difficult to negotiate, I decided to walk them there. Of course they got a free tour on the way, but if I'm ever in Cairo I just need to call them, and I'll get a free tour.

Ian helped at Birmingham Conservation Trust telling stories of long dead great people of Birmingham for the Day of the Dead, over the Halloween weekend. It was Michael's turn to help out as a volunteer guide at Newman Brothers this weekend, and he had a blast operating the Drop Stamp, and explaining how to dress a co**se in a shroud.

BCT is a charity which works to preserve Birmingham's built heritage and increase public awareness and appreciation of it.

I've recently been in Shanghai, and took this photo of The Bund Bull. I had to wait about five minutes to take the photo, as just like the Birmingham Bull loads of people wanted to have their photo taken with it.
The Bull has its merits, it is the second of three Bulls by sculptor Arturo Di Modica, the first is the Wall Street Bull in New York, the Shanghai Bull was his second, and the most recent is in Amsterdam. I may be biased but for me the Laurence Broderick Bull in Bullring Birmingham is the best.
