We are a small family business that offers scuba diving training from the age of 10 years and upwards we can facilitate training to enable the participant to fully qualify to a PADI Open Water Scuba Diver. We are also a fully stocked retail store that offers everything for the scuba diver and snorkeller. We also stock some items for swimming such as suits, goggles and flippers at very competitive

rates but always good quality. We have created an extensive community of divers And so even a diver that comes on their own and without a buddy can come along and meet new people once you've completed a PADI course with us.

JUNIOR DIVERS GOING DOWN DOWN DOWN NOTIFICATION

Recently some of our Junior scuba divers worked towards competing the deep dive adventure. Here they are posing and looking superbly calm at around 19.5 metres. One of the experiments on this adventure is to take an empty plastic bottle down to depth to see what happens to said bottle. Another experiment is to take a colour card slate to depth to observe how the colours change the deeper you go.

Also, at around 15 metres we experienced a thermacline and the temperature dropped by a further 3 degrees.

There are 5 adventures to complete in all. The deep dive surpasses their current open water level limit of 12m. Well done to all involved. Another Scoobie Scubaco Ltd a Scuba Diving Centre of Excellence for Training & Retail day out.

INSPIRING OTHERS TO BREATHE UNDERWATER WITH A GENTLY GENTLE APPROACH NOTIFICATION

Here at Scubaco Ltd a Scuba Diving Centre of Excellence for Training & Retail we have just completed a bespoke scuba review. We take the delivery of a review seriously and plan the review around the candidates ability and experience.

Emma is the latest of our review candidates. One of her requirements as a qualified diver was to be reminded what it was like to breathe underwater and blow mermaid bubbles.

We started off slowly and at the pace of Emma before progressing onto skills and deeper water.

NATURE and NURTURE NOTIFICATION

Well, here at Scubaco Ltd a Scuba Diving Centre of Excellence for Training & Retail we've just finished the next set of delivery of structured, in class, learning theory to our younger members (10 to 13 yrs), who will shortly be embarking onto the practical elements of learning to become a junior open water diver.

5 modules of theory, an end exam plus workshops now says its time to prepare for the actual underwater world. Both adults and youngsters are positively excited.

Here at Scubaco we believe in nurturing our youngsters through the theory so that they fully understand the concepts involved. Our adults like this approach too. Open Water, here we come and we will be using fabulous gear from MARES - just add water as well as Waterproof International and Tusa brands.

A LITTLE DITTY THATS QUITE WITTY BUT IMPORTANT NOTIFICATION

The water is getting warmer and many of our divers have embraced this now the diving season is gathering momentum. But, gear needs to be serviced and up to standard first. Here's a little ditty in a poem to remind you of the importance.......

THE HIDDEN HAZARD

Beneath the waves, your lifeline's there,
That regulator needs proper care!
Though serviced yearly with great delight,
Those sneaky pebbles caused quite a fright.

A wet breath signals trouble deep,
Little stones that make divers weep.
Without removal, damage ensues,
Underwater, that's news you can't use!

Be wise, don't cut corners with gear,

SPRING INTO ACTION AND LET'S GET READY FOR SCUBA FUN NOTIFICATION

The time has come to face reality as spring is officially here. The days grow longer (hurray), and the temperature of the water will start to increase again (yipee).

So, it's time to get out your scuba gear and bring it in for servicing. We can't emphasise enough how important it is to have your breathy thing (regulator), to be fully serviced, and by a professional. We pride ourselves on the level of expertise that is given to get your reg set ready for the season ahead.

Check your computer and BCD too. The bladder in the BCD often contains stale water that enables fungus to grow within. When did you last check out your bladder! (ho ho).

All in all, we'd like to welcome you to a new season and there are many reasons to get scuba ready. Living life, fun, good health and keeping fit, camaraderie, learning new skills, revising skills, meeting like minded people and not least, supporting a local business.

So, of all things scuba at Scubaco Ltd a Scuba Diving Centre of Excellence for Training & Retail, come on in and let's get the season started. Thanks to everyone that continues to support what we do. 23 years in pleasure and leisure at Scubaco.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2025 NOTIFICATION

Well, here we are in a brand new year. The snow has gone and the days are getting longer and the water will slowly start to warm up again ready for budding new scoobie scuba learner divers and our established divers alike.

The painting of the roller blinds was quite a job in the colder weather as they had to be stripped down, de-rusted with a grinder, prepped with sealer, then undercoated and then we applied four layers of industrial strength paint! The sea air drifting up Talbot Road from the sea front doesn't like roller blinds!! So, hopefully our hard work will keep the blinds looking smart for a while to come.

WINTER IS COMING AND THE SCOOBIE SHOP IS PREPARING NOTIFICATION

Now that the colder weather is upon us we are preparing for the winter maintenance of the Scoobie Shop. So, lots of rubbing down the old paint and on with the new. Including replacing old boarding that's gone through tough weather and rain and replacing the old shop phone number with the new one.

Then, it's more painting inside to keep things looking fresh.Theres more to it than just slapping on paint so we are going to pace ourselves. And of course it's all subject to the weather being kind to us.

So, from next Wednesday the Scoobie shop personnel will be taking a well earned break and will then set to and tackle all maintenance work. To allow us to do this we will close for the winter period. Please feel free to message us on messenger as we will always aim to get back to you.

Thanks to who has supported us throughout the year. Here's to next year's courses and more fun times to share.

I came across a video we'd had taken when out diving in Egypt 10 years ago. Short hair and relaxed posing was the order of the day, lol. Happy times shared with more of the divers we have trained at Scubaco Ltd a Scuba Diving Centre of Excellence for Training & Retail.

WET SUIT, SEMI DRY, DRYSUIT RESCUE CHALLENGE NOTIFICATION

Hurray! We've just delivered a bespoke rescue diver course and set the challenges for Scoobie Darren to meet all the scenarios and objectives of this demanding course. Whether in a wetsuit, semidry or drysuit we've done it all. The Rescue Course with First Aid Primary and Secondary care with AED and Defibrillation covers such alot. This course also teaches you alot about yourself as a diver and particularly as to how you'd cope in an emergency situation. It's only at this level of scuba education that as a diver that you start to realise that you really don't know what you don't know until you are asked to 'perform' 'under pressure' so to speak. Especially when a situation suddenly presents itself and you find youself to be the person that potentially can save a life.

After many hours in the water both on the surface and below, Scoobie Darren has learnt rope throwing using different techniques of throw, towing a diver in various ways, tired diver, panic diver, recovering a diver both conscious and unconscious from the shallows and from the deep, whilst providing rescue breaths and towing along the way once recovered to the surface whilst at the same time accessing a resus mask and de-kitting both yourself and the diver being recovered along the way whilst still towing!. Then, once out of the water putting his recently taught emergency first response skills into practise. Phew!! We've all certainly worked very hard and it's been worth every minute.

Like with all divers, at what ever level you are at, it's important to then work on perfecting any new skill that's been taught so that the skill becomes natural to perform. This, Scoobie Darren must set out to do on every dive.

So, it's a BIG congratulations 🎊 to Scoobie Darren and a big well done to for the awesome assistance from our trusty Divemaster Andy and the shore assistance from Chief Scoobie John Edmund.

And to close for today it was lovely to hear from a local swim teacher at the quarry say to John that she sees us regularly at Capers and how very professional and thorough we are every time we are there. I'm tired now after another long day in the water but positively beaming having delivered another safe and successful course. Thanks as always to those who support what we do xx

Our Story - Creating Mermen and Mermaids for the Future

We are a small family business and a centre of trainings & retail excellence that offers scuba diving training from the age of 8 years We are based on Talbot Rd, Layton in Blackpool. From the age of 10 years and upwards we can facilitate training to enable the participant to fully qualify to a PADI Open Water Scuba Diver. We also have a fully stocked retail store that offers everything for the scuba diver and snorkeller. We also stock some items for swimming such as goggles and flippers at very competitive rates but always good quality. We have created an extensive community of divers And so even a single diver can come along and meet new people once you've completed a PADI course with us. Where pool training is required, we use Rossall School pool. A purpose built pool with 3m at the deep end and a shallow end for starting off, thereby allowing each participant to go slowly, slowly and build up confidence. The pool also has a public viewing gallery. We run SCUBA parties from the age of 8. Many Scout and Guide groups that come for a party have worked with us to gain their Watership Badge or, simply experienced the fun of being underwater and breathing! Parties are great fun and allow a birthday child, for example, to invite friends to put on full scuba kit and play underwater games such as egg and spoon, relay race and catch the fish in a net to name a few. The party is heavily discounted to enable children to experience this fantastic sport at a price that is affordable. There is NO compromise on SAFETY. Safety = Fun.
