Yr Adfa is simply the most perfect base for exploring all that N Wales has to offer. Apart from being a short walk to the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway station, you can reach all the most stunning landscapes within a 20/30 minute drive. Here are two of our favourites, Criccieth and Beddgelert. There’s no shortage of ice cream in N Wales either! We have superb reviews and work hard to ensure you have a home-from-home experience. Magnificent hill views from the front. We sleep 6, so come and stay!

You’ll find this fabulous little locally-run coffee shop just a 2 minute walk from Yr Adfa. Homemade cakes and light bites, plus some interesting local history artefacts and leaflets/info. Come and stay with us and drop by!

Inside Ty Coffi Antur ‘Stiniog / Cafe, shop and tourist info on Blaenau Ffestiniog High Street, opposite the Ffestiniog railway station. Great homemade cakes and interesting local artefacts. 2 min walk from Yr Adfa - The Retreat.

These two paintings went to ArtWorks2 in Betws y Coed a couple of weeks ago. Top one is of Llyn Idwal from Y Garn and is now sold the other is Yr Wyddfa ( Snowdon) from the Snowdon Ranger Path on a winter late afternoon, as the sun was casting a pink glow over the mountains.

They show the remains of a slate mining village and quarry sitting up in the clouds of the magnificent hills adjacent to Llyn Cwmorthin. Park just a 5 minute drive from Yr Adfa - The Retreat to start this walk.

Exciting times for Blaenau Ffestiniog - not only was it recently made part of a World Heritage Site, but new slate mines are opening, so that the production of slate is no longer confined to history. Stay with us at Yr Adfa - The Retreat for the perfect location to explore this fascinating area. The town that roofed the world!

Welsh Slate is struggling to keep up with demand from across the globe, especially from Australia.
