A walk through the Cairngorms woodland comes with rather more history than you might expect. 🌲

The National Park is one of the remaining strongholds of the Caledonian forest, and many of its Scots pines are directly descended from trees that arrived in Scotland after the last Ice Age! Together, these forests form an unbroken chain of natural evolution stretching back around 9,000 years.

They’re also home to some of Scotland’s most distinctive wildlife, including red squirrels, pine martens, Scottish wildcats and capercaillie.
