Day 9 continued… 🇮🇳✨

You thought that was the end of the trip… nope! 😂

Thanks to our flight schedule, we had 12 hours to kill in Delhi, and in true TC style, there was absolutely no way we were wasting an opportunity to explore!

Our wonderful team at TBi, who have been such an integral part of our Bhutan trip, put together the perfect whistle-stop tour of Delhi for us. 🤍

First stop, lunch at a gorgeous restaurant packed with locals and tourists, always a very good sign! 😍

We then visited a Sikh temple and had the opportunity to see the incredible work they do within the community and how they support the people of Delhi. Such an interesting and humbling experience.

Next was a Hindu temple, where we watched local artisans weaving, paper cutting and creating beautiful traditional crafts, and of course, a few purchases may have been made! 😂

We explored some of Delhi’s incredible street murals, each telling its own story, before finishing at the Red Fort with a museum visit, cultural performance and beautiful light show. 🇮🇳✨

Then it was finally back to the airport for our journey home…

And just when we thought this trip couldn’t get any better, we were upgraded to Business Class! 🥂✈️

Honestly, the icing on the cake.

Bhutan, Delhi, incredible experiences, wonderful people and memories to last a lifetime… the perfect ending to a truly unforgettable trip. 🤍✨

Day 9 🇧🇹🤍

And just like that, it was time to say goodbye to Bhutan…

Our wonderful guide Subash has been such a huge part of this experience, sharing his beautiful country with us, making us laugh, teaching us so much and leaving us with plenty of words of wisdom along the way.

And in true Subash style, he even sang us out with a parting song. 🥹🤍

Nine days filled with incredible places, beautiful people, laughter, challenges, special moments and memories I know I’ll carry with me for a very long time.

Bhutan, it’s been an absolute pleasure. You really are a very special place and you will be missed. 🇧🇹🤍

I arrived excited to discover Bhutan, but I’m leaving feeling like Bhutan has given me something I didn’t even know I needed. A little more perspective, a little more gratitude and memories that will stay with me forever.

Some places you visit… and some places leave a little piece of themselves with you. Bhutan, you’ll always be one of those places. 🇧🇹🤍✨

Day 8 in Bhutan 🇧🇹✨ Part 2…

After the emotion (and exhaustion! 😂) of Tiger’s Nest, there couldn’t have been a more perfect way to end such an incredible day.

Our wonderful guides arranged for us all to dress in traditional Bhutanese dress for our final evening together. 🇧🇹🤍

Before dinner we were treated to a brilliant cultural performance… which somehow ended with us being attacked by a yak! 😂🐂 Definitely not something I expected to be saying about my evening!

But I have to give a very special mention to Dawa. 🤍

She took such incredible care of me throughout the day, quite literally holding my hand and helping me the whole way back down from Tiger’s Nest when my legs had definitely had enough! 😂

And after all of that, she still made sure I was dressed beautifully and looking my best in my Bhutanese outfit for dinner.

Dawa, you are genuinely one in a million. 🥹🤍

From one of the biggest personal achievements of my life to an evening filled with laughter, beautiful traditions, wonderful people and apparently a slightly overenthusiastic yak 😂… I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect ending to such an unforgettable day.

Bhutan, you have been incredibly special. 🇧🇹✨

Day 8 in Bhutan 🇧🇹✨ THE iconic day….part 1

Tiger’s Nest. 🐯⛰️

From the very beginning of this trip, I said I’d be happy if I could just make it to the café halfway up. I had never hiked before and honestly wasn’t sure I could do it.

At 3,120 metres above sea level, this was never going to be easy.

11.5km.
7 hours.
And I DID IT!! 🥹🙌🏼

I made it all the way to Tiger’s Nest and back.

There were moments when it was tough, moments when I questioned whether I could keep going, but step by step I got there.

Standing at Tiger’s Nest knowing how much it had taken for me to reach it was a feeling I’ll never forget. 🤍

Apart from raising my children, I genuinely think this might be one of my biggest achievements yet.

I came to Bhutan knowing this would be the biggest challenge of the trip. I’m leaving knowing I was capable of so much more than I thought.

What a day. What a place. And what a way to finish this incredible adventure. 🇧🇹🐯⛰️✨

Day 7 in Bhutan 🇧🇹✨

Today we said goodbye to the incredible Pemako Punakha and made our way to our final stop, Paro. 🤍

After arriving, we visited a beautiful museum and spent some time exploring a little more of Paro before checking into the gorgeous Taj Paro Resort.

Then it was a very early night for all of us… because tomorrow is the day we’ve all been waiting for. 👀🐯⛰️

Day 6 in Bhutan 🇧🇹✨

Another beautiful day exploring Punakha.

We visited the incredible Punakha Dzong, where we heard some amazing stories about its history and learnt that the King and Queen of Bhutan celebrated their royal wedding here in 2011. 👑🇧🇹

We were also given the opportunity to sit quietly and meditate inside the fortress, such a peaceful and beautiful moment. 🙏🏼🤍

We then continued discovering more of Bhutan’s traditions and beliefs with a visit to Chimi Lhakhang, the famous fertility temple, with plenty of fascinating stories and some rather interesting symbolism along the way! 😂

One of my favourite experiences came at lunchtime. We crossed a bridge on foot to reach a local farmhouse, where the wonderful lady who lives there cooked us a traditional Bhutanese lunch from scratch. It was absolutely delicious and genuinely one of my favourite meals of the whole trip. 🤍

She is also an incredibly talented weaver and has even woven for the Bhutanese royal family. I was lucky enough to buy one of her beautiful scarves to bring home, such a special keepsake from an amazing experience. 🧣✨

Days like this are exactly why Bhutan has been so special — the people, the stories, the traditions and those little experiences you simply couldn’t plan for. 🇧🇹🤍

Day 5 in Bhutan 🇧🇹✨

Today we said goodbye to beautiful Gangtey and the wonderful Taj Gangtey Resort and made our way to Punakha.

Along the way we visited some gorgeous hotels, from great-value options to some seriously special stays, including an incredible lunch at &Beyond, it was pretty epic! 😍

Then we arrived at Pemako Punakha… and what an arrival! 🤍 The only way in is to cross the bridge on foot, where buggies were waiting on the other side to take us up to the resort, and even the local dogs decided to hitch a ride with us! 😂🐶

And WOW, what a place. An incredible tented retreat surrounded by nature, with our own stunning private pools. Definitely one of those stays I won’t forget. ✨

Finished the day with a beautiful dinner at the hotel. The perfect end to another amazing day in Bhutan. 🇧🇹🤍

Day 4 in Bhutan 🇧🇹✨

Started the day with morning yoga and the most incredible view. 🧘🏽‍♀️⛰️

We spent the morning exploring beautiful Gangtey, visiting monasteries, meeting some of the monks and taking on a 6km hike through the valley. 🥾 Along the way, our wonderful guide Subash gave us his very own (and very funny 😂) interpretation of the journey of a black-necked crane, definitely a moment to remember!

We received a blessing and somehow ended up playing football with a young monk, such a lovely, unexpected moment. ⚽️🤍

Then it was off to Six Senses Gangtey for a gorgeous lunch, followed by a visit to the Black-Necked Crane Centre.

Back to our hotel for a beautiful traditional cultural show to finish another very special day in Bhutan. 🇧🇹🤍✨

Day 3 in Bhutan 🇧🇹✨

Today was all about the journey… and quite a journey it was! 😂 A 7.5-hour road trip from Thimphu to the beautiful Gangtey Valley.

Our first stop was Dochula Pass, surrounded by the most incredible scenery, before taking part in a prayer flag hoisting ceremony. 🙏🏼🏳️ Such a beautiful and meaningful experience, watching the flags go up and knowing the prayers will be carried on the wind was really special. 🤍

Then it was back on the road, stopping for lunch at a local restaurant along the way and getting to see so much more of Bhutan as we travelled deeper into the country. 🇧🇹

After 7.5 hours we finally arrived at the beautiful Taj Gangtey Resort and what a welcome! 😍 Exactly what was needed after a very long travel day.

A little time to settle in before being hosted for a fabulous dinner to finish the evening. ✨

A long day, a lot of winding roads 😂 but some really special moments along the way.

Day 2 in Bhutan 🇧🇹✨ and I genuinely don’t know where to start with this one…

Seeing the huge golden Buddha overlooking Thimphu was absolutely incredible 🙏🏼 followed by visiting the stupas and stepping inside a beautiful temple, there’s something so peaceful about this place that I’m already starting to understand. 🤍

We also discovered that there are NO traffic lights in Bhutan! 😂 The traffic in Thimphu is managed by traffic police from the little booth in the centre, somehow it just works!

Then onto the Post Office where we made our own Bhutanese stamps (yes, with our faces on them 😂) and actually used them to send postcards home. 💌

A wander through the market followed by a gorgeous lunch at Le Méridien… and then quite possibly the most unexpected moment of the day, we saw the King of Bhutan!! 👑🇧🇹 No photos allowed, but such a cool little pinch-me moment.

The afternoon was a completely different pace with a beautiful tea ceremony, followed by what might be one of the best massages I’ve ever had at Six Senses. 🧖🏽‍♀️✨ Absolutely incredible.

Then back together for a hosted dinner and yet more amazing food.

Only Day 2 and Bhutan is already turning out to be such a special experience. 🇧🇹🤍✨
