Two years ago we opened Garden Cottage Pumpkin Patch with great success. Since that day our venture has expanded to include Garden Cottage Glamping, placing a glamping pod overlooking the colourful pumpkin patch. Guests are able to book their stay for a bespoke experience at the patch. Visitors to the patch will now enter via a different garden on the other side to give pod staying guests their pr

ivacy and visa versa. There will be the same activities as last year with a few editions and this year we have included a smaller baby boo variety of pumpkins popular with children. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic this year, it has been uncertain ground as to whether this could go ahead but we are pleased to announce we will be open 17th October to welcome visitors but of course social distancing and hand sanitiser will all be in place. We will be operating a booking only service so please call 09769723747 to book your slot to allow us to safely manage the number of people coming to the pumpkin patch.

Hello everyone!

It’s been a while since we posted on social media because we have been deliberating on what to do this year with opening the pumpkin patch 🤷‍♀️

☀️ Although the summer holiday period was a scorching hot one in which the children thoroughly enjoyed, sadly our pumpkins not so much!

🎃 Whilst they ripened very quickly and all turned a beautiful orange, they didn’t reach their full size potential and so we have only small orange Jack o lantern pumpkins alongside our usual jack be little, baby boo and warty varieties.

🎃 These have been welcomed by visitors in the past who love small pumpkins for decoration, or those with children who like a little pumpkin they can handle easily and decorate with acrylic paints or sharpie pens. Some say the best things come in small packages and it’s not all about size 😉

💨 However the final blow has been the storm we have had this weekend where the wind has caused a fair bit of damage to the garden! Due to upcoming family commitments and certain time constraints, repair in time seems now unrealistic and so we have taken the sad decision to not open the pumpkin patch this year 😞

🌧️ ☀️ We’ve seen it all over the last six years of growing pumpkins, from bumper crops to few crops and from giant whoppers to small ones. Each year is different and as with any crop it all depends on the weather!

🙌 We intend to open again next year and in the meantime we have plenty of little pumpkins should you want to order some and collect 👍

📦 🎃 We’ve already had interest in buying boxes of pumpkins and we also have lots of jams including our pumpkin lemon and ginger jam, gooseberry and elderflower jam, blackcurrant and elderflower jam and a spiced apple chutney 😋 Please DM to order and if you want any information.

😃 Well it was short but very very sweet! Thank you to everyone who visited the pumpkin patch over the last week. We had a lovely and busy weekend with amazing weather ☀️ and you pretty much cleared us out! With the weather turning now 🌧️ we have decided to finish on a high and say a huge thank you to all our visitors. 🙏

I can announce the winners of the competitions are….
🌟 Guess the weight of the pumpkin was Ffion Fenrich with 5.6kg. We raised £102.50 for Breast Cancer Now
🌟 the winner of the hamper was Kate Frost and we raised £142 for our local
🌟 the winner of guess the name of the scarecrow was Sammy Wilson with Mr Hedgehog
🌟 the winner of a two nights stay at the Glamping pod was Julia Morris

🙌 Congratulations to all our winners. I will be in touch with you personally to let you know you have won and arrange collection of your prizes.

☀️ 🎃 It’s a beautiful sunny day today and we have opened the pumpkin patch for the local cylch meithrin’s this morning as they are closed over the half term. As the weather is lovely today and we are now set up we are happy to take any pre-bookings should anyone want to come before the weekend. Due to commitments we cannot be open Tuesday or Wednesday this week but today, Thursday and Friday are available. Please get in touch if you want to come on those days, otherwise we shall see you for our public opening on Saturday!
As per usual we have our games in the garden; 10 animals to find, a hidden word search, clues to find Teddy’s house as well as our cut out picture boards, scarecrows and photo props. We have competitions to win; guess the name of the scarecrow and win two nights at the Glamping pod. Our guess the weight of the pumpkin to win it is raising money for Breast Cancer Now. We will also have hampers as raffle prizes to raise support for our local . We also have produce of eggs, tomatoes, Swiss chard and lots of jams!.farmstall has kindly provided amazing cakes to purchase and there are teas and coffees available. We look forward to seeing you all. 😊 🎃

🎃 🎃 🎃 Hello everyone! Sorry we’ve been a bit quiet on the social media front. As many of you will have seen on the news or heard from many a farmer, the weather hasn’t been too great for crops this season 🌧️ 💨 ⛈️ and resulted in a lot of crops being slow to mature. We too have found our pumpkins to be slow to come on and we’ve been holding out in the hope of better weather 🌱 ☀️ to allow them to reach their full maturity.

Our warty pumpkin variety sadly did not come into fruition 😞 but we have plenty of Baby Boos and Jack be Littles 🤩. Our Jack o Lanterns are smaller this year- sadly no whoppers.

We are so grateful 🙏 to have such a supporting following and in response to private messages about when we are opening, we have decided to open daily from Saturday 26th October 🗓️. There will be NO Eventbrite booking system this year (just first come first served) and we’ll be open 10am- 5pm 🕔.

As usual it is 🆓 to enter. There will be our much loved games of finding 10 hidden woodland animals in the garden 🐿️🦔, find Teddy’s house 🧸and solve the hidden word search 🔍 We’ll also have our photo stations 📷 with picture boards. Our competitions are guess the name of the scarecrow 👨‍🌾to win him, guess the weight of the pumpkin 🎃 to win it and there’s a chance to win a weekend stay at our Glamping pod 🛖 . We will also have other produce grown from our garden available to buy 🍅 .

🤩 Having a little family time with the children today 🛝 Just wanted to say a huge thank you from all of us to everyone who visited the pumpkin patch this season. We loved catching up with familiar faces and seeing how their little ones have grown over the years as well as meeting new faces from all over the UK and as far as Canada 🇨🇦 We’ve thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to seeing you all next year! 😃
