For the next three days, you'll find me at the CLIA Annual Conference and I genuinely couldn't be more excited!

The Cruise Lines International Association is the world's largest cruise industry trade organisation, bringing together travel agents, cruise lines, ports, and destinations from across the globe. Think of it as the ultimate classroom, networking hub, and industry insider event all rolled into one incredible few days.

Every single time a client takes a moment out of their day to send a lovely message or a thoughtful gift after they get home, it honestly blows me away. It means the world ❤️

Recently, a wonderful client of mine came to me wanting to celebrate her birthday with a luxury weekend away. She has an incredibly demanding work schedule, so planning time for such a holiday was the one thing she just doesn’t have. She needed the whole trip to feel completely effortless, special, and worth every precious minute.

That’s exactly where I love to step in.

I took care of everything, handpicking a gorgeous hotel renowned for its exceptional service and beautiful surroundings, the kind of place where even the bar people know you love a margarita before you’ve even arrived at the hotel.
We mapped out her time perfectly so she could truly switch off, relax, and just focus on celebrating.

Hearing from her afterwards that she felt totally looked after from start to finish, and that it was the exact reset she needed, is honestly the best part of my job.

For me, it’s never just about booking a hotel room. It's about tailoring the perfect experience for the person taking the trip, especially when their time away is the most valuable thing they have.

“Do you enjoy going this slow Mummy?” 🚲😂

A sentence from my daughter during one of our practice bike rides this week… and I'll be honest - it's a very fair question.

Because a week tomorrow, I’ll be representing Travel Counsellors and taking part in a charity bike ride around the New Forest alongside lots of other travel professionals as part of the lead up to this year’s CLIA conference. (the biggest UK Cruise event)

At the time I signed up, it sounded like a great idea.

Now? My legs hurt, I’ve discovered muscles I didn’t know existed, and I’m already pre-emptively saddlesore just thinking about it.

Spoiler alert: I am not the fittest person in the world.

This year, I’m on a mission to change that, although throwing myself into a 20k bike ride with minimal preparation may not have been the most sensible starting point.

The charity I’m supporting is Family Holiday Charity, and it’s one that really resonates with me.

As a travel planner, I spend my days helping people create amazing holidays and memories together. But for some families, even a simple break away is completely out of reach.

Family Holiday Charity helps families facing really difficult circumstances such as poverty, illness, bereavement, domestic abuse and isolation to have a much needed short break together. Something many of us take for granted can genuinely make a huge difference.

So yes… I know it’s “only” 20k round the New Forest, but for this old girl it’s quite an effort 😅

That’s exactly what happened to one of my clients. After I planned a flawless girls’ trip for her, her partner trusted me to pull off the ultimate 50th birthday surprise: a bucket list trip to the Maldives. 🇲🇻✨
