Some destinations are about the beach; this one is about everything around it. 🖤

We're dreaming of Maui this morning... and the version of the island that the obvious resort circuit doesn't show.

Imagine a week split between the upcountry slopes of Haleakalā, where the lavender farms and the old paniolo ranches sit at altitude, and the quieter Hāna Highway side, where you read the coast in waterfalls and lava-rock beaches rather than infinity pools.

Private cultural tours with a Hawaiian guide who explains what the place is and how to walk into it. Dinners at Mama's Fish House. Mornings with a coffee at a roastery that grows its own beans on the mountain.

At Agent Nouveau, we shape the journeys for clients who want to understand a place rather than tour it. 🖤

⟡ A Day Built to Be Filled Lightly

The new Miraval on the Red Sea has put a three-thousand-square-metre spa at its centre, the largest on Shura Island.

Thirty-nine treatment rooms. Vitality pools, hammams, salt rooms, sensory showers. A walking trail system and a mangrove boardwalk, for the slow movement the brand has always treated as part of the treatment rather than separate from it.

Somewhere to sweat, somewhere to float, somewhere to do next to nothing. Wellness travel as restoration, not itinerary.

Villa Manodori: Emilia-Romagna (Spotlight)

Destination Spotlight: A nineteenth-century estate in the green folds of Reggio Emilia. ✦

We're keeping a close eye on Villa Manodori, the 1800s Emilian estate that has quietly become one of the more talked-about private rentals in northern Italy, reportedly hosting the Princess of Wales earlier this year. 🕶️

The villa sits on a working farm of vineyards and walnut groves. The original frescoes still run across the principal rooms, restored rather than redrawn. A small swimming pool sits in the formal garden. The kitchen is built around the family's own balsamic, aged in the attic in barrels older than most of the guests.

This is the Italy that doesn't advertise. The kind that gets passed quietly between people who know.

At Agent Nouveau, we gather the houses that the obvious search results miss. ✦

Cannes: the rooms behind the festival weeks (Journey)

Some weeks on the Côte d'Azur are about the films; this one is about the buildings that hold them. 🖤

We're dreaming of Cannes this morning... not the red-carpet version, but the quieter one... the palaces along the Croisette that turn over for the festival each May and then settle back into themselves.

Imagine a week at the Hotel Martinez, with its Art Deco lines and a long terrace facing the bay. Or the Carlton, which reopened after a four-year restoration that left its 1911 bones intact and gave it back its formal gardens. The Majestic, with the suite that looks straight down onto the Palais. Each one a quiet study in how the Riviera built its grand hotels and how they have been kept.

A festival week with the right room is a different kind of trip altogether.

At Agent Nouveau, we bring together the stays where the building is part of the story. 🖤

Four Seasons I: the first Four Seasons yacht (Spotlight)

Destination Spotlight: A week at sea, designed by a hotel company that knows what a week feels like. ✦

We're paying close attention to Four Seasons I, the first-ever Four Seasons yacht, now sailing its inaugural Mediterranean routes. 🕶️

Ninety-five suites. A spa that runs the full beam of one deck. A funicular down to the marina platform so you can step into the water from the boat without ceremony. The food programme runs across eleven venues and was designed by chefs the brand already trusts on land.

What sets this one apart is the pacing. Four Seasons knows that a week is short. The itineraries are built to let you settle into a port rather than tick it off.

At Agent Nouveau, we source the journeys where the vessel matches the view. ✦

⟡ The First Miraval to Leave Home

Miraval opened its first resort outside the United States this month, on Shura Island off Saudi Arabia's Red Sea coast.

For a brand built over three decades in the Arizona desert, the choice of where to go first says a great deal. Not the Alps. Not the Maldives. A brand-new coastline, framed by mangroves and lagoons, designed by Foster + Partners to sit low and unhurried against the water.

At the heart of it, the largest spa on the island. Thirty-nine treatment rooms, vitality pools, hammams, salt rooms. Adults only. All-inclusive. A day built to be filled lightly, if at all.

We have written about what it signals, over on the journal. Link in comments

The question used to be where. Now, more and more, it is how. 🖤

Emma Ponsonby of the ultra-luxury operator Satopia calls it a move from destination-led to intention-led travel, and it matches what we have watched happen across our own conversations at No.82. The first thing a client tells us these days is rarely a place. It is a feeling they are chasing, or one they want to leave behind.

The destination still matters. A feeling has to land somewhere beautiful. But the order of the thinking has changed: the place has become the means, not the point.

You can see it in what is being built, from the new wave of wellness retreats designed around stillness rather than sightseeing, to the rise of villas sold on privacy first and view second.

It asks a harder question of anyone who plans travel for a living. A place can be looked up. A feeling has to be drawn out, and it rarely arrives in the first sentence.

This week on the journal: the question that changed, and what it means for how the best trips now get planned. 🕶️

Saint-Tropez: the Côte d'Azur staple (Journey)

Some destinations are about discovery; this one is about returning. 🖤

We're dreaming of Saint-Tropez this morning... the corner of the Côte d'Azur that has outlasted every prediction of its decline and quietly stayed at the top of the list.

Imagine a week split between the harbour, where the boats are still bigger than the houses, and the back-lanes of the old village, where the bakery has been run by the same family since before any of this became famous. Lunches at Club 55. A long afternoon at La Ponche. Dinners that don't start until the light goes soft.

The pull of Saint-Tropez was never the glamour. It was the way the place holds its own rhythm even when the world arrives.

At Agent Nouveau, we bring together the trips that understand why some places endure. 🖤
