It's been a while since we've posted here. Sarah and I have been very busy, in fact still are. Many of you would have known us as Kipscombe Holidays, Cottage, Campsite (Devon Banks) and our secure dog field, but as many of you know we sold our house (Kipscombe) and holiday cottage so we could fund our new self-build timber barn and holiday Lodge.
Of course we did not go far, just a few hundred feet, on to some of our retained land.
Our new website and business name is now 'Devon Banks Holidays'. Our New timber holiday lodge, secure dog field, and other holiday accommodation will now be found under our new name.

Our secure dog field is still in operation and is not effected by the building work. Our lodge we are planning to start taking guests from December 2025, maybe earlier.

Some have asked What about the Campsite?
We are looking at ways to stream line everything we do, campsites are hard work but we did love having it. It's not a NO never again, it maybe 1 or 2 pitches but obviously our Holiday Lodge has taken up 3 hard standing pitches as you'll see from the photo's.
We are still a bit of a mess here from all the building work and ongoing building work still.
Please continue to follow us and our journey.
1st Picture is our lodge being erected Back in Sept 2024
2nd picture is the cladding being carried out in March 2025.

Sarah and I are doing as much work as we can ourselves, using the relevant trades when needed.

Oh and we are still very much doing our bit for the environment. No cement foundations on the holiday lodge.

North Devon has many great tourist attractions, one of our favourites is The Lynton and Barnstaple steam railway, great for steam lovers, take a return trip taking in the glorious views or just pop in for lunch in their tea room. Something we do quite often. It's just a 15 minutes drive from us. Dog friendly too. Charlie patiently waiting to get on.

Big thank you to all those who visited us this year. We always love sharing our little bit of Exmoor with our regular campers and those staying here for their first time.
Nature has been very kind to us this year, our wild flower meadow put on a good display and we had many visiting animals, some you do not always get to see, but they are about. We have added some of our favorite photos from this year.
A few images: The super moon, The dark skies, The local hedgehogs, The barn owl, The visiting deer, birds of prey, our ancient Devon banks with trees growing among them, our wild flower meadow and a couple of top places to visit. I have also included the view you get when travelling to us and just 500m away (never get tired of the view).

We are now closed for 2022 season for a little rest. 2023 bookings can be made from the end of December when our calendar should go live.
Thanks again
Darren & Sarah

Super moon tonite, dark skies and meteor shower, all visible from Devon banks touring site on edge of exmoor. We have no light pollution here so the best for star gazing. Limited spaces now for August and September. Pic of moon taken just 15 minutes ago by one of our guests.

If staying at our site we recommend a visit to Appledore , full of charm and small old fisherman cottages. There are dog friendly pubs and tea rooms to visit too. It's about a 30minute drive away from our peaceful touring site. While over that way pop into westward ho! too and visit the haunted house.

We have just been informed that our local bus service is being improved. Our nearest bus stop is a 1.2 mile walk and is located at the crossroads at the A399 junction. it's a hail and ride section. Dogs are permitted by discretion of the driver, of course North Devon is very dog friendly so it should not be a problem. You can catch the bus to Lynton n lynmouth, it passes Blackmoor gate and Woodbay station and in the other direction the bus goes to Barnstaple. Here is a screen shot of the service.

If you're wondering where to visit whilst in North Devon, Ilfracombe is a must. Its just a 20 to 30 minute drive from Devon banks campsite. There is the town, the harbour, gardens to see, crazy golf and boat trips. It's very dog friendly with many pubs allowing dogs. Warning watch out for the seagulls if eating fish and chips outside at the harbour. The cheeky birds will swoop the fish right before it goes into your mouth.

Blue Bell walk today. OK I was walking but of course you'll be driving. This is the current drive up to our campsite entrance. Blue bells will only be around for about another week. Take note of the slate signs if you're due to visit our tranquil touring site.
