The snow has been a long time coming. It tells you a lot (from tracks and making everything more obvious) but demands a lot too. Cross country skiing has got to be the hardest form of exercise ever invented.

I've often heard of small, non-descript birds being referred to as LBJs; Little Brown Jobs. Hill folk have another name for them; Heather Linties. It sounds much more convincing. We had a visit from a Heather Lintie today- one that I only (knowingly) see a handful of times a year.

It's a great time of year. The grass is starting to green up; the trees are coming into leaf; the place is alive with birdsong. Jack and I were watching a pair of mating adders yesterday....until an ardent hissing told us there was a third one. Close.

The day is fast approaching when 'Secrets of the Glens' tours will be up and running. How do I feel? Excited. A little nervous. But mostly so looking forward to getting started. There's just so much to see and do....
