8 reasons I'd recommend a cruise for your next family holiday. Here's the bit that actually matters most.

Out of everything, the two things I look at first with any family are the itinerary and the ship itself. Everything else, cabin type, board basis, extras, all comes after those two are right.

The itinerary matters because a cruise isn't just about the ship, it's about where it takes you and how much time you actually get in each place. Some families want a proper mix of ports to explore together. Others want more sea days and less rushing around. Get that wrong and the whole trip feels off, no matter how nice the ship is.

The ship and cruise line matter just as much, because they're so different from one another. Some are built around big kids' clubs and family entertainment. Others are quieter, more adult-focused, or better suited to a multi-generational group travelling together. A ship that's perfect for a family with toddlers can be completely wrong for a family with teenagers, and vice versa.
