Take part in a short survey to shape the development of a new strategic research programme for learning outside the classroom (LOtC) in the UK.

Completing this survey will help us identify the priority evidence needs for learning outside the classroom (LOtC). By LOtC we mean any learning that happens beyond the classroom, whether that happens indoors or outdoors, near or far away, during the school day or beyond.

Our aim is to use the information from this survey to shape the development of a new strategic research programme for LOtC in the UK - helping to target research investment more effectively, with more collaboration and less duplication.

It will help identify where existing evidence could be shared more effectively, and where new evidence is needed. It will mean that policy and practice across the UK and beyond are more likely to have the right evidence at the right time, enabling more children and young people to benefit from LOtC.

The Council for Learning Outside the Classroom is delighted to be working with PGL Beyond to identify priority evidence needs - whether these come from policymakers, teachers, advisers, or activity providers etc. So please complete the survey and let us know where evidence would be most useful to you and/or your organisation.

The survey has simple tick boxes and should take no more than 10-15 minutes. A quick heads up: question four seems a very long list! This is on purpose to allow you to pick and then rank your top five from the full list, using a simple drag and drop function.

The more responses we get the more useful the results will be, so please do forward it to your networks and contacts too.

Thank you.

Follow the link below and submit your response by midnight on Friday 6th March.

BAPA Members Centre Visit Cumulus Outdoors & Gower Activity Centre at JCA Condover Hall

Last week, as part of the BAPA Members Centre Visits Scheme, JCA Condover Hall welcomed two member organisations. On Tuesday, Steve and Ceri, managers from Gower Activity Centre, visited the site, and on Wednesday we welcomed Jack, David and Gemma, the Centre Manager, Chief Instructor and Senior Instructor from Cumulus Outdoors.

These visits are a fantastic opportunity for providers to share best practice, learn from each other, and see how different centres operate. It was great to see teams from Gower, Cumulus and JCA engaging in meaningful discussions about programme delivery, operations, and guest experience.

The scheme currently has 9 BAPA member organisations signed up, strengthening collaboration across the membership and supporting continuous improvement.

If your organisation would like to get involved in the Centre Visits Scheme, please contact BAPA to find out more.

A huge thank you to everyone involved!

On Wednesday 11th of February BAPA was pleased to support member PGL Beyond in Westminster as CEO Anthony Jones launched their Breaking Down Barriers report.

Accompanied by the Rt Hon Justine Greening, (former Secretary of State for Education and current Chair of the Purpose Coalition), Andy Macnae MP and many representatives from providers and sector leads, the importance of purposeful action to break down social barriers was discussed. An engaging, positive afternoon in the capital discussing the role of thd Outdoors in supporting and underpinning lifelong learning, starting with schools. Great to be alongside the Institute for Outdoor Learning and AHOEC - The Association of Heads of Outdoor Education Centres and many others.
