Lief has been keeping us pretty busy and because he is so young we haven't brought him to Sanderling until now. He absolutely loved the beach which is just a 5 minute walk away and found lots of new friends to play with. After the beach we had lunch at The Harbour Cafe which do an amazing all day breakfast 🩵.

Happy Valentine's Day 💗

As today is the day for love we thought we would introduce you to the newest addition of our family. Please meet Lief our teeny weeny whippet 🩵. He is 15 weeks old and has been with us over 3 weeks now. He has settled in really well with the others and is going to be a long term companion for Tigerlily who is much younger than our boys. Hopefully we will get him to Sanderling soon so he can experience the beach and the sea x.

From its beautiful beaches to historic landmarks and natural wonders, Bridlington offers something for everyone during the spring season. Here’s our guide to the top things to do in Bridlington in spring.

🌼 1. Stroll Along the Beaches
Bridlington boasts two stunning beaches – North Beach and South Beach. In spring, the beaches are quieter than in summer, making them perfect for a peaceful walk or a moment of reflection by the sea. South Beach offers long stretches of golden sand, ideal for families and picnics, while North Beach provides dramatic views of cliffs and rock formations.

🌼 2. Explore Sewerby Hall and Gardens
Spring is the perfect time to visit Sewerby Hall and Gardens, located just a short distance from the town center. The hall is surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens that come alive with vibrant spring blooms. Wander through the walled gardens, spot early-flowering plants, or visit the zoo, which is home to a variety of animals, including lemurs and penguins.

3. 🌼Birdwatching at Bempton Cliffs
Just a short drive from Bridlington, Bempton Cliffs is a haven for nature lovers and birdwatchers. Spring marks the return of thousands of seabirds, including puffins, gannets, and guillemots, to these towering chalk cliffs. The RSPB visitor center offers binoculars and guidance for an unforgettable wildlife experience.

🌼 4. Enjoy the Bridlington Harbour
The historic Bridlington Harbour is a great spot to soak up the town’s maritime charm. In spring, you can watch the fishing boats come and go, take a boat trip along the coastline, or sample fresh seafood from local eateries. It’s also a great place to try crabbing, a favorite family pastime.

🌼 5. Discover Flamborough Head
Spring is an ideal time to visit Flamborough Head, a striking promontory with dramatic cliffs, caves, and coastal paths. The area is perfect for walking, photography, and spotting wildlife. Don’t miss the iconic Flamborough Lighthouse, which offers spectacular views of the North Sea.

🌼 6. Visit the Old Town
Bridlington’s Old Town is steeped in history and brimming with charm. Explore its cobbled streets, historic buildings, and boutique shops. Springtime events and markets often take place here, providing a great opportunity to experience the local culture.

🌼 7. Take a Coastal Walk
The Yorkshire coast is renowned for its scenic walking routes, and Bridlington is no exception. The coastal paths offer breathtaking views, fresh sea air, and glimpses of wildlife. The walk from Bridlington to Danes D**e is particularly rewarding in spring, with wildflowers blooming along the way.

🌼 8. Attend Spring Events
Bridlington hosts a variety of events in spring, from food festivals to art exhibitions. Check out the Bridlington Spa for live music, comedy shows, and family-friendly performances. Spring fairs and markets in the town also provide a chance to sample local delicacies and handmade crafts.

🌼 9.Ride the Land Train
A fun way to explore Bridlington is by hopping on the land train that runs between the promenade and Sewerby Hall. In spring, the train ride offers pleasant views of the blossoming gardens and the sparkling coastline.

🌼 10. Indulge in Local Cuisine

Take a look at this incredible photograph captured by a visitor! This rare phenomenon is called a Brocken Spectre! 🌈☁️🧍‍♂️

It occurs when the sun shining behind the observer projects their shadow through the mist, while the magnification of the shadow is an optical illusion which makes the shadow on nearby clouds seem at the same distance at faraway landmarks seen through the cloud! 😍

Happy International Dog Day from Teddy, Tigerlily (the one that looks like a pretzel 😁) and Rex who all seem to enjoy sitting on the window seat.

Since last year we have sadly lost Quail and Binky Somerset. I was also very worried about Teddy earlier this year fearing he may not make his 15th birthday 3 months ago but he is now well again and enjoying his holinobs to Sanderling x
