Thank you for all the lovely birthday wishes, I had a great day. Lunch on the beach with these madzers and a birthday swim. Next year Baby Frank will hopefully be joining us!
Two years ago my birthday was a tad different when our motorhome was stolen and we were stranded in France. It was horrible. But, it worked out OK, after a lot of wrangling and stress. It’s now just a memory, and a reminder that bad times pass and there are always reasons to celebrate. We just have to make the most of every one of them xx

On the former Roman Road, Durnovaria - Vindelis (Dorchester - Portland), Dorset. You can see Portland in the background. Always fascinating to travel on these ancient routes, and it is still doing its job nearly 2000 years later.

I would imagine the Vikings travelled along here on their way to have a punch up with the Saxons. It didn’t end too well - a grave of 50 beheaded Vikings was discovered 40 yards behind us when the by-pass was being built. You can see some of the skulls with swords cuts in the Dorchester Museum
