When I see celebrity “ads” suggesting you can make money while travelling as a travel agent… please don’t be fooled.

Being a Travel Counsellor isn’t a gimmick or a side hustle. It’s my professional career — built on experience, expertise, and genuine care for my clients. It’s also my full-time job.

Over the past two weeks alone, with airspace closures and changes in FCDO advice affecting travel across multiple regions, this is what real travel agents have been doing behind the scenes:
✔️ Re-routing clients when flights were cancelled
✔️ Re-booking hotels, transfers and alternative transport
✔️ Rebuilding itineraries when airports closed or connections were missed
✔️ Staying in constant contact to provide reassurance and clear information (no chatbots or call centres here!)

You may not see this side of the job on social media, but it’s what we do every day - solving problems, managing risk, and always putting our clients first.

Yes, it’s incredibly stressful when unexpected world events unfold. There are long days, late nights, constant monitoring of updates, and sometimes some really difficult conversations to have.

But even with all of that… I would always rather be the one supporting my customers than leaving them to navigate it alone.

The travel industry can face challenges at any time — weather disruption, security issues, airline changes, policy updates, political tensions, or completely unexpected global events. Most of these aren’t predictable and often happen with little or no warning.

When you book with a personal travel agent like me, you’re not just booking a holiday. You’re booking:

• Real-time monitoring of your trip
• 24/7 support if plans need to change
• My experience and guidance
• Immediate assistance with rebooking
• A real human who answers the phone
• Someone who genuinely cares about you and your holiday

When you book online, the booking engines don’t stay up late worrying about your trip. They don’t check updated advisories or message you to reassure you. I do. 🥰

In times of uncertainty or crisis, my priority is always my customers — making sure you feel informed, supported, and able to travel with confidence, even when the world feels unsettled.
