🧲 This is not a scare story. It's a real one. And it didn’t need to happen.
A man has died after being pulled into an MRI scanner while wearing a heavy metal chain. It’s horrific. And it’s avoidable — but only if people understand the danger.
I used to work in MRI. I saw people try to walk in with phones, tools, belts, even TV cameras(!). They had no idea they were seconds away from being pulled violently across the room by a magnet that can’t be turned off.
Because here’s the thing:
MRI magnets are [typically] superconducting. That means they're ALWAYS ON.
You can’t "just turn it off." Emergency shutdowns take hours [and hundreds of thousands of pounds].
Once it’s gone wrong, it’s already too late.
So if you or someone you love is going for an MRI — PLEASE listen to the safety rules. ALL of them.
Even if they feel silly [Yes, your bra matters]. Even if you're in a rush. Even if someone else says, "Oh it’ll be fine."
Because this? This isn’t about inconvenience. It’s about staying alive.
