Emirates airlines have just provided an update on their refund processing. It doesn't take a genius to understand this is why refunds are taking months to process when you look at the numbers.

EMIRATES has revealed it has returned more than $1.9 billion in COVID-19-related travel refunds since the start of the global pandemic, processing a mammoth 1.4 million refund requests that represent 90% of the airline’s total backlog.

FUN "SAD" FACT FRIDAY

Our retail travel business has now refunded over $282,439.78 in cancelled travel arrangements with about 50% now processed.

We are now seeing more airlines moving back to an automated system of refund processing so hopefully refunds with flow a little quicker from now on.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of my loyal customers and friends for their ongoing support and patience during this crisis.

Who misses not being able to travel?

COUNTRY INFO: MOZAMBIQUE

Mozambique is actually quite a large country with lots to offer. It shares borders with South Africa and Eswatini in the South and Tanzania in the north as well as Zambia, Zimbabwe and Malawi. It also has a large shared border with Kruger National Park but it is not a famous safari area like Kruger. Mozambique is, however, working on its national parks.

Remember how to spell Mozambique because it is worth more points than any other single word country in Scrabble at a total of 34 points. It is also the only country to have all 5 vowels.

So here are some things you may not know about Mozambique.

• The official language is Portuguese.

• Mozambique is three times the size of the UK but with only half the population.

• It's a perfect spot for water lovers. Mozambique has land alongside Lake Malawi as well as an impressive coastline. Lake Malawi is the 8th largest lake in the world and offers a range of tropical freshwater experiences. If clients are not interested in freshwater, Mozambique has some of the best beaches in the world with many to choose from, having over 2400 km of coastline.

• Gorongosa National Park was once regarded as Africa’s finest game viewing destinations however during the civil war (which lasted for 17 years) the wildlife was decimated due to civilians hunting for food. In 2019, 24 lions were moved from different reserves around South Africa to central Mozambique however this has not been the only animal relocation in Mozambique. The government is working hard to restore Mozambique to its former animal numbers.

• The southern Mozambique coastline has a rich year-round zooplankton production making it a critical mating-breeding-birthing spot for the Manta Ray. Both Giant and Reef Manta Rays can be seen in Mozambique and often in the same place.

• If diving is what clients are after then Mozambique is the perfect place! The coastline offers a variety of different areas for diving and a number of different species. This is the ideal area for a safari of the ocean. The Quirimbas Archipelago off northern Mozambique is 32 islands dotted around the archipelago and also Quirimbas National Park, famous for its coral reefs and abundance of marine life. This is the spot to see endangered dugongs, whales and dolphins.

• Between May and July each year sardines travel from South Africa up the eastern coast before heading out further into the ocean. The Sardine migration is often said to rival the great wildebeest migration. The sardines not only bring out the marine life that feeds on the sardines but also massive amounts of birds, everything from dolphins to king mackerel to cape garnets. Just like a wildebeest river crossing the action is never guaranteed however if the clients have the time it is well worth the wait.

• Clients can fly or transfer by boat directly to many islands with a wide range of different budget options. If offers the perfect holiday after an African safari holiday.

• Mozambique also has its share of stunning buildings in the capital Maputo, including a building designed by Gustav Eiffel (yes, the same man who designed the Eiffel Tower) and a spectacular train station. On the Island of Mozambique is the Chapel of Nossa Senhore de Baluarte which is the oldest European building in the southern hemisphere.

Breathe!

We’ve finally found 10 minutes to update you all on what is happening with our agency at present 🤩

In the darkness of the current climate, we want to let all our beautiful clients and friends out there know that we have been working around the clock to process and salvage as many bookings as we can, only stopping to feed the kids and pour more wine 🍷

Majority of airlines and suppliers are taking more than 5 hours to get through to and we are working hard on bookings departing before 31st March and to save stranded passengers in other countries. All other bookings will be processed in date order.

We thank you so much for all of your patience, your loyalty, and your words of support!

Helloworld Church St Brighton, although we are seriously in crisis mode and underwater, we are not going anywhere, we are here for you and we are getting through the mountain of information currently changing on an hourly basis.

We’re in for the long haul and you are not alone.

We need to stress now more than ever, to stay calm and 100% believe in your travel agent you have entrusted your hard earned holiday with.

Losing money right now is a given. Everyone is losing from executive level to administration staff and families not knowing when they can feed their families next. This situation is not so fortunate in countries who rely on our business that we send them. It is dire. We’re trying to do all possible to support them as well.

Anyone who needs assistance and who has booked with us, will have answers on moving forward within a week, those of you not travelling to the European summer are still in a good position to go. It’s an ever changing situation that can improve as fast as it collapsed.
