With the Eurovision Song Contest on tonight, it’s a great time to remember a band who really took the world by storm that night.

“You gotta speed it up
And then you gotta slow it down
'Cause if you believe that our love can hit the top
You gotta play around
But soon you will find that there comes a time
For making your mind up!”

Buck’s Fizz became overnight stars when they won Eurovision for the UK in 1981 with Making Your Mind Up — a song that instantly became one of the contest’s most iconic performances.

Of course, most people still remember the famous skirt-rip moment during the chorus, which shocked audiences at the time and helped make the performance unforgettable across Europe.

The group, made up of Bobby G, Cheryl Baker, Mike Nolan and Jay Aston, scored 136 points on the night and brought Eurovision back to Britain in style. The song quickly shot to number one in the UK charts and became one of the biggest-selling Eurovision singles ever released in Britain.

What followed was a hugely successful few years for the band, with hits such as The Land of Make Believe, My Camera Never Lies and Now Those Days Are Gone helping them become one of the biggest British pop groups of the early 1980s.

Even now, more than four decades later, that Eurovision performance is still remembered as one of the contest’s greatest ever winning moments.

Remember though , you can always do a private walk , even if it’s just a couple of you - or why not make a party of it and get a few friends or work colleagues together?

Although general public tours have no finished for the season you can still book Group Walks and they can be for groups of any size from 2 people upwards . So why not get together with some friends for a Ghost walk , a bit of murder and mystery, a Christmas tour or any of the tours on my website!
Great for birthdays , work get togethers, U3A groups or any reason.
