The Hot Sauce Emporium

The Hot Sauce Emporium The UK's first and longest-running shop dedicated to chilli sauce & all things chilli.

Please note that we do not run an online store - we are an independent business based in Bristol's historic St. Nicholas Market, dedicated to giving the best over-the-counter shopping experience that we can. Customers are welcome to browse our extensive range of products, and we are always happy to chat, give advice and help with recommendations.

Introducing Sorella - a chilli sauce from Easton Chilli which I can safely say is like no other I have tasted, and is unique amongst the myriad of sauces which inhabit the Emporium shelves. This mild sauce is made using Nania's Wildbrew Kombucha barrel-aged kombucha vinegar, hibiscus flowers, mint and fermented Aji Limon (Lemon Drop) chilli, and is a revelation with its delicate, sweet and minty flavour. Use it as you would a mint sauce, with lamb, grilled chicken, salad wraps or for dipping - you'll be surprised at how much you want to put this sauce on everything...

Available now from the Hot Sauce Emporium, located within Bristol's historic St Nicholas Market.

I've been keeping this under wraps for a while, but the artist who first produced the much-loved chilli babies - Charlie Boy and Dia Bolical, the Emporium mascots - paid me a visit a while back before she relocated to Ireland. Before she departed, Josie was kind enough to find time to produce a few more of her demonic creations for the shop. Two have already gone to new homes, but I do still have two left for sale, for anyone interested in taking ownership of your very own chilli baby (see pictures). If interested, please message me for more details, or call in the shop, but this will be first come first served, and this is the first and probably only time any of these monstrous little creations will be available.

Just in from local heroes GingerBeard's Preserves - the first of this year's batch of Limited Edition Ghost Pepper Hot Sauce, made using smoked Ghost Peppers, Habaneros and a dash of Drink Moor Beer Old Ale. The hottest sauce from the GingerBeard's range, with the complex and rich smoky flavour making it ideal for burgers, grilled food and roasts. It would probably put a smile on the face of any father who happened to receive a bottle on Fathers Day, I'll wager...

Thanks to GingerBeard's Preserves for the appropriated pic. The sauce itself is available now from the Hot Sauce Emporium, located within Bristol's historic St Nicholas Market.

Two newbies and a restock...to add to the range of chilli rubs and seasonings (and just in time for BBQ season), we are now stocking Burning Desire Foods Coffee & Chipotle Chilli Rub, along with the hotter and smokier Extra Hot version. The depth of flavour with this one is off the scale, and it's suitable for a wide range of meats and fish, as well as veggie options. This one is highly recommended, and if you've already tried any of the Burning Desire sauces and marinades, chances are you won't need convincing.

Also, the Queen Majesty Hot Sauce Ancho Habanero Hot Sauce Powder is back in stock at last. I must admit, I thought this exceptional seasoning had been discontinued, and no-one is as pleased as me to see this deliciously warming condiment back on the Emporium shelves.

These items are all available now from the Hot Sauce Emporium, located within Bristol's historic St Nicholas Market. Just a reminder as well that the market will be closed next Monday the 25th May for the Bank Holiday.

Back from a visit to London and the Hot Sauce Society Hot Sauce Festival, which was absolutely packed with top quality chilli sauce and chilli oil vendors. There were too many saucemakers for me to cover every stall in the time that I had, but pictured are some of the standout producers that I did manage to chat to, some of who have been on my radar for a while. I'd love to stock some of these sauces in the Emporium, but, as ever, it all depends on that precious shelf space. As the saying goes, 'I'm going to need a bigger shop'...

Pictured, Idriss from Eaten Alive London, James from .shop, Jamie from Big Jim's Hot Sauce, Pete from Big Ginger Sauce Co. and the team from The Spice Must Flow - Hot Sauce. Big shoutout to EatMuti Matt, who is also a regular at this event.

Very excited to be attending the Hot Sauce Society Hot Sauce Festival in Peckham for the first time tomorrow. I can't believe I keep missing it, but not this time! The event does clash with the RHS Malvern Spring Show, which I usually attend, but as I sell chilli sauce and not plants, I thought I'd give Malvern a miss this year, for the greater good...

Back in the Emporium again after another great Eastnor Castle Chilli Festival. I managed to miss the chilli-eating contest, but luckily I didn't come back empty-handed, with some great new products to sample from GingerBeard's Preserves and Tubby Tom's, to name but two. Perhaps the greatest prize was securing one of the amazing new Tubby Tom's Tall Ships tote bags - just perfect for loading up with chilli products.

Here are a few pics from Sunday, featuring, amongst others, Harry From aforementioned GingerBeard's Preserves, Rikki from Easton Chilli, Russell from Grim Reaper Foods, Stuart from Hot-Headz, Tubby Tom, leading Team Tubby, and the two Henry Brothers...I know there were many more traders there, so apologies to those I missed. If you've never been and you get the chance, just go...you won't regret it.
