New page for our Ikarus 260 bus, "the Hungarian legend in England", as we tentatively start to look forward to finally having some events to visit and activities to enjoy this year! Lots of photos of the journey so far, since buying it in Hungary in December 2017. This NSC page will now be monitored only occasionally, as we've stopped operating modern vehicles and commercial operations. Our two remaining vehicles, the Budapest Ikarus and our 1956 Southern National Bristol LS, are purely for enjoyment and conservation 😊

If you're at a loose end on Saturday, probably the last time ever that half-cab vintage buses will operate in normal public service in Bristol. To mark the final day of Abus - the last independent bus company in the City - normal 349 journeys will be augmented with special extra journeys operated by Bristol Lodekkas 969EHW and 972EHW. There might be other special appearances too, and the man himself Alan Peters will be at the helm of the final Optare Spectra AP04BUS on the very last journey.

We've made it! Not with a bus, as we originally planned, but by Eurostar to join the 3 day NostalBusRally in Flanders this weekend. Some fantastic vehicles, great company and activities, and some sobering moments in Ypres too, as we passed through the Menin Gate. Hopefully when restrictions are over and there's events in future we will get to take one of our vintage British buses... and any of our friends and supporters who would like to come will be very welcome!
.. and hopefully, next week, Hungary!

Closer to home for our "Mystery Tour" today... to the Avon Valley Railway for tea and cake on the train. Ample provisions for the journey and very much enjoyed for a short tour with our local gang of friends. We also welcomed a new face today; someone recently moved to Nailsea who had been finding it hard to make new friends during COVID. You're guaranteed a warm welcome on our trips, not just by our crew but by the other travellers too. We still keep single bookings to a double seat for your comfort though. Give us a try and see how nice coach travel can be!

Dramatic skies today on Dartmoor for our West Devon Excursion.

The flexibility of our little coach made for a wonderful day out. Eating up the Motorway miles in comfort gave time for an extra stop-off in Okehampton for coffee, before travelling to Tavistock and the brilliant Pannier Market (our purchases - local strawberries, cauliflower, galvanised mop bucket, accounts book, ream of A5 paper, lunch box!) Then we climbed onto the Moor where the weather changed quickly, but we were able to stop for photos and to admire the stunning ponies - some with foals. Then Tea in Moretonhampstead and a cruise back up the M5.

We're full for Tavistock on 11th August but still have seats for our next tea and cake afternoon, on 12th August to the Avon Valley Railway at Bitton.

Opened in 1869 by the Midland Railway as a through-route between Birmingham and the South Coast the Avon Valley Railway was later linked to the iconic Somerset & Dorset Railway.

We couldn't share this at the time but now it's public... if you watched the BBC Drama "Baptiste" tonight, set in Budapest, you probably didn't spot our bus lurking in the background!

We spent a weekend at the Building Research Establishment in North London last Autumn with our former Budapest Ikarus bus forming a backdrop to shots used for the rather dramatic final scene of episode 3. Really interesting to compare what we saw on the day to what's seen on screen!

A scorcher of a day today but a fantastic day out had by all in Bridport and West Bay. There was even some paddling and swimming!

Wednesday 21st July (next week!) West Dorset adventure to Bridport on market day, and West Bay... its the boss' birthday so his choice of destination! Cakes are very welcome...

A lovely town to visit, bustling with life and a nice variety of independent shops and cafes... there's also one of the biggest millinery (hat) shops for gents, ladies and children.

We left the miserable local weather behind today for a fabulous day out on one of longest day tours... over 120 miles to the delightful walled town of Tenby in West Wales. A couple of showers soon passed and the glorious sunshine and golden sands looked absolutely stunning! Even in the rain we had a nice day out and the roast was worth waiting for! It felt so good to be back at our favourite place, Oake Manor Golf Club near Taunton.
