After last Sundays bumper car boot sale Team Pendeen had a Sunday off today due to the weather forecast. To my relief it was the right call as we have had continuous rain since the early hours right up to past 2.30pm and now the sun has come out. It definately wasn't car booting weather here in Cornwall unless indoors. Anywhere else folk would be very wary to attend but the weather may have held if lucky. South coast wasn't hit as early as us.
Team Pendeen hopefully back in action Sunday August 10th and numbers likely to make up for today.
THANK YOU for your kind comments and those thankful on the mobile for us changing our minds into continuing into 2026 but when a decision such as this to open or cancel it is possible we might get it wrong especially when the weather forecasts differ. Having the team on site and we all get drenched can be a waste of time and then there's the risk of everyone leaving at the same time which just doesn't work, so better to avoid. What rain? may have been the comments yesterday but Pendeen was cancelled Friday evening and prevented a late cancellation this morning or anyone travelling, with me having a lie in lol. 😀

Sunday August 3rd Pendeen is cancelled due to the possibility of some rain? Being an all-day car boot sale, the risk is to great. So, seeing next Sunday the forecast is looking good at present we’ll wait for then and have another Sunday off to be refreshed for a larger sale. Eight Sundays and August Bank Holiday Monday left this season weather permitting? Making a decision on a Friday evening lets everyone know in good time rather than cancelling Sunday morning when we actually have a better idea whats happening weatherwise.
Sunday March 29th, 2026, new season of car boot sales begin at Pendeen due to so much disappointment at wanting to close. 🥲

The record for donations has been broken once again £638.36 Sunday July 27th with three ten-pound notes and twelve five-pound notes and all the loose coinage, this now brings the total for this season so far to £8,582.90 Appreciation being shown for the sales and for supporting our local hospital here at Stratton. THANK YOU! Thanks to Julie, Jill, Louise, Michael and Cynthia for spending so much time holding the buckets. For a very large sale the buyers were there to spend if the bargains available enticed them to spend.

Unfortunately, one of the seven Porto Loos had to be shut as not working as it should right from the beginning, this happens, and being such a large sale could have been a problem but no with so many loos the queues were minable. I apologise for this and even I couldn’t sort this then but will be put right for our next sale. Often wonder how other organisers must manage especially with only one or two loos. Presume if the sales are over in a short time not needed as we did in the beginning at Rockbank. Being all day, we need them and with so many folk thankfully kept clean.

Yes, if things go smoothly, I am looking at a date to start the 2026 season at Pendeen with Sunday March 29th pencilled in weather permitting which would be a week before Easter.

As a family run car boot sale, we do act swiftly if something is brought to our attention with the volunteers we try not to allow anyone to take advantage of us or the large gathering of folk. Hopefully the two cars selling may be a one off we have no proof of where the goods came from but being told probably from a supermarket without paying. If seen at Pendeen again you will be told to pack up and leave, selling another item such as to***co is just not allowed or trying to flog it up and down the designated walkways. Which now brings me to the point of Keith being asked to announce that someone had lost their to***co pouch WHAT?

Love the song composed about Pendeen when I heard it Sunday evening, and another 5-star review on google. We await the forecast for Sunday August 3rd to see if we can open. Decision hopefully Friday evening we need some more good weather weekends so all car boot sales can operate successfully. 🙂

299 sellers Sunday July 27th what a success story and Thank you for leaving the site so litter free Carlos and Celia and anyone else litter picking.
Thank you to the female that handed in the £10 notes found in the second car park, Yes another female asked at the information post if any money on the off chance had been found and we were delighted to hand back the correct amount claimed Honesty at Pendeen SIMPLY THE BEST, and Yes a change of heart due to all the huge out cry and praise we have had with 10 possible sales left this season. 2026 looks to be the 30th year of organising car boot sales here in Stratton with Pendeen then being the 23rd season. Seven years at Rockbank on a Saturday morning. Volunteers all wish to keep Pendeen going and what a grand job they did today. I didn't expect to change my mind when I decided to give up and thought its just a car boot anyone can do that. Not knowing I was talked about so much and held in such high esteem by the car boot gathering. With the volunteers and everyone that supports Pendeen we have a number one car boot sale and the song on this video perhaps that should be number one in the charts THANK YOU so much Paul, and everyone. Chris xx

Yes its been raining continuous for quite some time now. So the relief of cancelling early Friday evening has paid off. Happy with the decision made. If it wasn't for all our catering vendors that need to know and all those booters that load on a Saturday, With all those that travel so far to come to Pendeen. A early decision is so much more appreciated than on Sunday morning. It's disappointing for any visitors that have arrived. But then I have had a lie in rather than being up at 5am and another local carvery. Can the boot sale operate next Sunday? 🤔

As expected, Sunday July 20th will be a cancellation that’s the fifth this season.

BBC have given a warning and Met 80% chance of rain.

Knowing Pendeen, we will more than likely escape but the risk is just too great to take.

So, we give this a miss and see what next Sunday 27th may bring with this unsettled spell likely to continue for the foreseeable time. It can be disheartening mowing the grass all this morning, but preparations continue for when we are able to continue. 🤔

With three entrances to the selling area and two exits to the A39 never really thought about it before the layout must be pretty unique and the view for miles a treat. Being fairly high up as well we have the breeze or wind which is certainly blowing today.

Many thanks to all those that contributed at the lower entrance and exit in the mailbox, Haven't had so many coins there for some time as most would go in the bucket. With two Ten-pound notes and ten five-pound notes donated at the other entrances with all the coinage the amount came to £442.11 with THANKS to Christine at the main entrance with Tim, Karl and myself at the second entrance. Outstanding amount seeing the second carpark wasn’t used as much. Again, folk can come through from the first carparking area to that second entrance as happened till gone 3pm. Then with folk still contributing on leaving the selling area showing their appreciation of the sale. Buyers and visitors are able to come and go freely another reason for not filling the second carpark like when we have so many more sellers for them to browse. It was warm but we were blessed with a cool breeze and the car boot proved very successful and now unknowingly what the next couple of Sundays are with the unsettled forecasts?

THANK YOU TO TEAM PENDEEN that are with me all the way with the pleasure we give to so many far and wide. 🙂🙂

First a huge apology to our TOP FANS 198 of you it seems. Never really took much notice until Chrissie became a top fan. Your interaction is greatly appreciated and I’ve no idea how this works but do my best to keep this page how I want it to be to promote our sales and keep you updated. With 12,586 followers the updates are to keep all informed.

204 sellers today a very good turn out in the heat with many having a very good day and some not so good. The latest drone footage shows buyers 2nd carpark not as busy and A39 traffic flowing freely unexpectedly. What a lovely cool breeze we had all afternoon and even I was walking around in bear feet on the grass. Unfortunately, I put on my previous post for ice cream and slush vendors to expect to be very busy. Not knowing we wouldn’t have any other than Candyland to save the day with their slushes. Of all days not to be there even I wanted an ice-cream. Never mind no one complained.

Many of you would have seen me on the second entrance with the donation buckets due to again unforeseen circumstances only Christine from the League who was on the main gate. Tim and Karl relieved me when any problems arose to be dwelt with but luckily, I was able to collect until 3.30pm with many leaving donating THANK YOU. THANK YOU, Cyril, for your company chatting. We need at least two from the League of Friends from 1pm to at least 3pm more commitment please otherwise I shall seek an alternative organisation to come and collect if we continue next year with so much pressure being put on us. Organising is one thing but to be taken advantage of another it was the 13th and an apology came early from one, but Team Pendeen run the sales looks like a backup from the League is needed as today. Food for thought. Great seeing the five-pound notes go in just as all the coins and I can see how the buckets weigh heavy after a while. Update on how much donated next post.

Very few dogs on site today and maybe it was just as well it wasn’t a very large boot sale. Sandra, Karl and I run Pendeen anyone dictating to us about no dogs your comments are removed as we can only advise dog owners, we have had hot weather in the past. Which brings me to the lady that fainted, and an ambulance was needed which was able to access with no problem. Thanks to Team Pendeen and all that helped in any way.

Rather disheartened that a Responder was called earlier and it was their second hoax call out with nothing to do with folk on site as we were on edge not knowing where the call out was needed. THANK YOU for all the positive comments today on site to me and anyone that informs me of your appreciation. The information flag was flown rather stiff today, but we don’t like it so will be flown as normal at the next sale it is good to try things out you never know what you are going to see or hear at Pendeen. 🙂
