It’s World Hippo Day 🦛!
These huge, dangerous mammals are hunted by poachers for their meat and ivory teeth and drought has led to their habitat loss🙁
Hopefully by raising awareness of their plight they will be around for many years to come!

Are you bored with the same old destinations popping up on your social media?

There are soooo many fantastic places to explore, some may feel a bit daunting if they are not on the mass tourism trail but this makes them extra special and if you have a private guide arranged then the stress is taken away and you can get off the beaten track.

Nicaragua is a tropical country in Central America, sandwiched between Costa Rica and El Salvador. It is rich in wildlife, volcanoes, Spanish colonial architecture, coffee plantations, lakes and beaches so there is plenty to explore. Just off the east coast are the stunning Corn Islands which have been on my bucket list for a long time. Consisting of two islands, Great Corn Island (an area of 10 square kilometres ) and Little Corn Island (an area of 2.9 kilometres) they are a great place to dive or snorkel with an abundance of sea turtles, barracuda, nurse sharks and spotted eagle rays, it looks amazing!

The best time to visit is between November and May which is the country’s dry season. I am currently researching sustainable properties in this interesting part of the world and I have found some really beautiful places.

I am currently putting together a safari for a family trip to Kenya this Summer. There are so many fabulous lodges and camps out there and many have sustainability at their core. I have just come across the beautiful Segera Retreat, everything about it is perfect, the location, the decor, their values and they even have the “Birds Nest” villa set high above the ground which offers the unique concept of nesting and sleeping like a bird, how awesome is that!!
