A lovely spring salmon from the Border Esk🎣

Thanks to Julie Hunter for sending this one in, caught by Harvey Young on his first visit to Burnfoot Beat, Longtown. A memorable first day on the beat and a great fish to mark it!

Low House, River Eden🎣

Set near the village of Armathwaite in Cumbria, Low House offers double bank fishing on the River Eden, with opportunities for salmon, sea trout, brown trout and grayling.

The beat runs for around three quarters of a mile from below Armathwaite Bridge and includes four named pools: Bathing Pool, Low Holme, Linky and Robsons. With car access, a hut available to anglers and a peaceful village setting close to both Carlisle and Penrith, it is a welcoming option for those looking to fish one of the Eden’s well known stretches.

A cracking spring salmon from Ladykirk on the River Tweed🎣

Big thanks to Chris Hemingway for sending this one in, and a special mention to Craig for the netting duties, especially for jumping in with no waders. The fish was taken on a Dee Monkey.

A beautiful and tranquil Dee beat, Commonty offers 1.5 miles of right bank fishing in a secluded woodland setting, with attractive pools such as Garden, Loop, Bend and Points. With a comfortable Scottish larch hut, a 3 rod setup for much of the season, and a real sense of peace and variety on the water, it is a lovely choice for anglers looking for a classic Dee day.

Warwick Hall, River Eden🎣

A lovely Eden beat in Cumbria, Warwick Hall offers two productive stretches of water and fishing throughout the year, with opportunities for salmon, wild brown trout, sea trout and winter grayling. With well maintained banks, a hut, easy wading, and the option to use boats in higher water, it is a very attractive choice for anglers looking for a comfortable and traditional day on the river.

It was fantastic to meet so many anglers, chat all things salmon fishing and celebrating one of Scotland’s most iconic rivers.
