How fit do you really need to be to trek to Everest Base Camp?

It's important to be fit, but you don't need to be at an athlete-level fitness. If you can do the following three things then Everest Base Camp is very doable:

👉 You can hike for 4-6 hours with a backpack weighing around 6-8kg.

👉 You can hike uphill and downhill sections with a total elevation gain of 500-800m without feeling completely drained.

👉 You can do back-to-back hikes over the weekend to mimic the multi-day nature of the trek.

Honestly? No one feels 100% ready when they book. Often getting a date in the diary gives them a pretty amazing goal for their training.

Every life-changing adventure starts by booking the trip. You may not feel ready. You might be nervous. Most of our EverTrekkers feel that way when they first book. But by the time you hit those trails? You’re 100% ready for whatever nature throws at you and can’t believe you didn’t do it sooner.

So, if there is a trek on your bucket list, the best thing you can do is book the date. The rest will follow.
