Cornish Café Celebrates One Year Of “Jam Burger” By Launching the Double Jam Burger

A controversial Cornwall café has celebrated the one year anniversary of its infamous “Jam Burger” by unveiling a new limited edition “Double Jam Burger.”

The towering dessert creation contains what staff describe as “extra layers of authentic Cornishness” and features two full scones, double jam, double cream and what appears to be “another bit of scone shoved in the middle for structural support.”

Locals have already reacted with confusion.

Skiddy Tressider from Pool described the creation as, “Just half a scone sandwiched between more scone with jam and cream. What a lash up!”

However, the café has denied claims the Double Jam Burger is simply “a load of cream tea slapped together” and insists it should instead be viewed as “a Cornish culinary experience.”

Meanwhile tourists appear delighted by the announcement.

Barnaby Glen-Winters, who is currently staying in Rock for the week, said, “The label says ‘REAL CORNISH’ and that’s a must. When I go back home I always tell my neighbours I had real Cornish products and they didn’t.”

Staff say demand has been “absolutely mental” since the announcement, with several customers reportedly asking if the Double Jam Burger is available with chips.

The café confirmed that it is.

After hearing the news, Skiddy simply shook his head and replied, “See, lash up!”

The café has also revealed its next product will be a “bucket of mini Jam Burger bites” aimed at tourists wanting “the authentic Cornish experience whilst walking around St Ives.”

It's a record-breaker!

This year's Christmas garland is officially record-breaking, with a whopping 38,000 flowers grown, picked, stripped, dried and prepared onsite in 2025.

The garden team and their team of dedicated volunteers have worked since January to ensure the success of this multi-coloured, magical display, a Tamar Valley tradition that has its start in Cotehele's Great Hall in 1956.

Head Gardener Dave, Gardener Kayleigh and the team have enjoyed one of their most successful growing seasons in decades, thanks to near-perfect spring and summer weather. Enormous thanks go to the whole garden team and the amazing garden volunteers for this astounding achievement.

Don't miss your chance to see this spectacular display: the garland can be found in the Great Hall from 22 November to Monday 5 January, from 10:30am to 4pm (excluding 25 and 26 December).

Bodmin is very close to Harpers Cottage and a great place for a walk. The Cheesewring (that pile of rocks in the background) offers great views over the moor.

This Saturday the 6th for a week discounted from £1250 to £750 because our builders are working on our roof (next door) between 9am-4pm for four days. So there could be a bit of banging but if you’re out most of the day you won’t be bothered.

This interactive museum is absolutely world class and only ten minutes from Harper’s Cottage. If you want to learn about the Boer War in a very engaging way, you must go! Their S African restaurant is beautiful and their gift shop full of lovely things and wine!
