✈️ Travel Tip: Transiting Through the USA 🇺🇸

Having done it a few times now, one of my biggest pieces of advice when planning a trip through the United States is to make sure you leave yourself plenty of time between connecting flights.

On our transit through Seattle, we had to:

🧳 Collect our checked luggage
🛂 Queue for passport control and ESTA checks (over an hour in our case!)
📄 Have details of our accommodation and onward travel available if requested
🎒 Re-check our luggage at the appropriate bag drop
🔒 Go back through airport security

Only after all of that were we free to relax, grab some food and drinks, and make our way to the departure gate, where we needed to be around 40 minutes before boarding.

We had a 5-hour connection, which felt a little longer than necessary, but the alternative was less than 2 hours. In our situation, that would have been cutting it very fine and could have resulted in missing our onward flight or not being allowed to board in time.

💡 My advice? When booking flights that transit through the USA, don't just look at the cheapest option—look at the connection time too. A little extra waiting is far less stressful than running through the airport worrying you'll miss your flight!
