Thanks to everyone who helped make our Festival of Choirs last Saturday (31 Jan) such a success. Lots of great feedback and we had a lot of fun along with St Albans Catholic Primary School Choir, The Ensemble of Friends and Double Take barbershop quartet. "Something for everyone" is how one audience member described the programme. Starting on some new music this evening in readiness for our next concert, so it's a good time to come along and join us. 7:30pm in the Great Hall at Homerton College, Hills Road, CB2 8PH

We're already looking ahead to the end of January - 31st to be precise, when the Homerton Singers will be hosting a Festival of Choirs (including The Ensemble of Friends and choirs from the Grove and St Albans Catholic Primary Schools from Cambridge). The concert will feature a music-story involving all the choirs, called 'Hassebu' which is based on a tale from Zanzibar as well as individual items and a special organ piece. The concert starts at 2:00pm at St John the Evangelist Church, Hills Road, Cambridge, CB2 8PH.

Well, it's been a most enjoyable term making music with Homerton Singers. On Saturday last we took part in the HCMS (Homerton College Music Society) concert which also included our director, Dr Douglas Coombes involving the audience with a bit of singing and clapping by way of participation, and to round off the season, we held our last rehearsal of the term concentrating on music that we will be singing at our next concert, which will be held at St John the Evangelist Church (Hills Road) on Sat 31 January (2:00pm). The conclusion of this rehearsal was an informal celebration with some nibbles and drinks which gave us all a chance to chat and wish everyone a really super Christmas. If you fancy becoming a member, why not come along to the Great Hall at Homerton College on Monday 12 January 2026 at around 7:15pm when we resume rehearsals for the Lent term? Festive Greetings to one and all.

EXCITING NEWS . . . we will be starting rehearsals for the new academic year on Monday 15 September 2025, rather than waiting for the start of the university term at the beginning of October. Of course, if you're not in Cambridge until October you are still very much welcome to join then. We have a mixed programme of seasonal and collaborative pieces and will be working towards a 'Festival of Choirs' in the New Year, involving some local primary school choirs. Remember that Homerton Singers is a non-auditioned choir and there is no requirement for music-reading. We also supply tracks to help you learn the music.
If you're looking for a friendly, welcoming group then why not consider joining us?
