Explore Campbeltown

Explore Campbeltown Explore Campbeltown and Surrounding areas showcases the places, people, businesses and activities of Campbeltown, Kintyre and Gigha.

Launched in August 2013, We had created a website (www.explorecampbeltown.com) which acts as an online directory of all local businesses within the PA28 postcode area. The website helped to showcase the wonderful products and services we have available locally and we hoped that this would encourage people to visit our 'hidden gem' of Scotland. We also work with a variety of local groups to host di

fferent events throughout the year. On 1st October 2021 Explore Campbeltown changed Management of its Destination Marketing over to Keeping it local CIC an already established service serving Businesses, trades and services as well as Tourist information and events promotion, Based in the heart of Campbeltown it offers a variety of services within its premises as well as Social Media, Website, physical presence and unique network of Digital Screens all over the peninsula and Gigha and supported by likeminded fantastic businesses within their premises. Expanding to "Explore Campbeltown and Surrounding Areas" we will enhance an already well built and utilized platform but enable the area as a whole to benefit from a fantastic "Free" service afforded to all no matter the size of your business or service.

Many of you may have seen the article in the Campbeltown Courier this week about what we’re trying to do in the town.

So we thought we would take a moment to properly introduce Diamond Vault Community Benefit Society & Kintyre Community Regeneration CIC and explain what it’s all about.

Like many of you, We walk through Longrow and the town centre every day and see the empty buildings that have been sitting unused for years. Places that once had businesses, life and people coming through the doors.

Diamond Vault CBS & Kintyre Community Regeneration CIC has been set up to change that.

Our aim is simple. We want to build on the success of previous projects like CARS, Campbeltown Town Hall and the Picture House. Where possible, we want to bring neglected, ownerless or long-term vacant buildings into community ownership, refurbish them, and bring them back into use for local businesses, organisations and the wider community.

We’re already working closely with Argyll & Bute Council, Campbeltown Community Council, Scottish Land fund, community shares Scotland and Highlands and Islands Enterprise as well as other local partners, and there are some exciting projects being explored just now.

This isn’t about one person or one group. It’s about the community having a real stake in the future of our town.

If you’d like to be part of that journey, you can become a member of Diamond Vault CBS here:

Membership helps us show strong community support as we move forward with funding applications and future projects, and it gives you THE COMMUNITY a voice in what happens next.

Thanks to everyone who has already shown support. There’s a lot of work ahead, but the goal is simple: bring life back into the buildings that should be part of Campbeltown’s future.

Well done 👍

Thank you to everyone who attended this year's Explore Campbeltown Christmas Market on Sunday. It was another amazing day, extremely well-attended—due in part to the wonderful weather, but most definitely because of the huge selection of products offered by our talented local businesses and stallholders. Their hard work leading up to and during the event is impressive and deeply appreciated.

A big thank you goes to Argyll Bakeries, The Wild Chameleon, and West Road Bakes for offering a great selection of food and drinks to keep our customers energised throughout the day. We are looking to secure an additional food vendor for next year's event. If you are interested in being considered, please email the Springbank Events Team at [email protected].

We would also like to extend special thanks to:

🌟 The entire Springbank Distillery team, who handle all of the preparation and clean up behind the scenes
🌟 Santa and his elves, for putting smiles on so many faces
🌟 Clare McAulay for providing fun Christmas crafts for the children
🌟 Glenbarr Stores for adding their renowned Christmas touch
🌟 Kenny Craig, for taking time out of his day to capture the event (please head over to his page to check them out)

We look forward to doing it all again next year! Please save the date for the 2026 Explore Campbeltown Christmas Market : Sunday 29th November 2026.
