Look out for EH19 3.7% Pale in pubs throughout Kent. The 'EH' in the name – stands for experimental hops!
Charles Faram, Charles Faram & Co Ltd one of the biggest hop suppliers in the UK has an important hop development programme and as part of that a number of brewers in the South East have been asked to brew with varieties of their new hops. We felt very honoured to have been included.
The only information we had was that the hop had an alpha-acid of 3.4% (this is a measurement of bitterness) and that it had flavours of boiled sweets. Well, we got the boiled sweets from the aroma of the dry hops but once brewed we got subtle flavours of stone fruits and berries and a gentle fruity aroma. The result is a delicious low abv beer. Perfect for summer supping!
