Long Rock is an internationally important coastal area between Whitstable and Herne Bay and a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Carefully cultivation and protection of the area have allowed water vole, Brent geese, and a variety of rare plants to thrive here, and the route is linked to the Oyster Bay Trail and Viking Coastal Trail. Perfect for a quiet stroll or a long bike ride.

Herne Bay is the perfect spot for exploring the coast and countryside – or for just snuggling in front of the fire.

Head to Grade II listed 14th century pub The Ship Inn for unbeatable sea views, or Kent Pub of the Year winner The Four Fathoms for historic character and contemporary comfort.

The Prince of Wales, Hoath, is well placed for walkers as the starting – and end – point for magnificent circular walking routes through the surrounding Canterbury woodland and countryside.

And The Rising Sun in Stourmouth is a stunning country pub with rooms and a great fireside setting.
